Texas Mile Beehive Texas

Well I just purchased my used 2008 135i MT. I have upgraded the car with the following parts.

ETS 7" FMIC, ER Chargepipe with TIAL BOV, CP-E catless downpipes, and axle back Berk street exhaust. I recently got Vishnu's OFT running stage 1 tune.

With the above mentioned I would like to take the car to the Oct Texas mile event were the goal is to reach a speed range from a standing start to speed within a mile. Being that it will be my first event I am limited to 165mph class A. Once I meet my 165 mph I can qualify then for the 185mph B class. And from there maybe one day the C 200 mph class. First things first.

Any idea if this 135 can hit 165 as is in a standing mile? I am doing this to have fun being its my first event and a good baseline. Are the some basic things I do to better prep the car for speeds over 150? Oh I got rid of the run flats....I am mostly concerned about lift at those speeds.

From what little math I have done it doesn't seem probable to hit 165 but I should be over 145-150 which would qualify be to go class B I believe.

If I can qualify in A class then I plan to go single for next years run (Vishnu single bottom mount twin scroll).

Any real world experience\advice on the subject would be great.

Thank you in advance.

I'll be very impressed if you're able to hit 165mph in a mile.
I did a 1km air port event in my car and only hit 214km/h (133mph). Although the car was so heat soaked after lining up in the heat for two hours that I could feel the timing being pulled.

Let us know how you go.

Thanks... I plan to do a full bolt on minus meth event first. After some research it seems I really need to at least run race gas or E85 with these stock turbos to get to 145ish range maybe. Regardless this is a temp thing for me in that I plan to move on to the single setup shortly. I will keep you guys updated.

SO the event booked up the first 2 hours of registration. Looks like I will have to wait till spring for this event. In the meantime I am looking into other events to help answer some of these questions and get the car into the higher speeds.

I can confirm that the N55 135 with tune only will easily roll past the 150 mark, this is in mexico of course!

You may be very experienced in driving at high speeds but I must ask.....Have you ever driven + of 140 mph? Things happen very quickly and to be honest with just aftermarket springs and non rft's 150 is a bit floaty feeling and propably not the best idea (although I survived.) The way you apply brakes and steering must be very controlled and precise. Control the way weight shifts carefully!

Look at coilovers and a pro shop to help set them up form your intended speeds.

Be careful and good luck in pursuit of maxing out the 135!
