I plan to load one today, an off the shelf BMs map to replace the wedge tune I've been using that was loaded with *********** and do some logs with terry at burger Motorsport. I'll let you know how it goes

Jake Hershorin (MOTIV Motorsports) will be flashing my car with MHD later this week.

I'm running MOTIV's single turbo kit and port injection system.

Hey Neil. Last time we met, I think you were running RBs....it was at bimmerfest east 2013. I'm relocating from Chesapeake to Chantilly for a new job, so I'll be in your neck of the woods. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on MHD. Mike.

I just uploaded my MHD flash Thursday night and so far so good, I had an issue of fuel starvation if I went wot at cruising rpm's on the highway with my prior wedge tune but this cleared it up. It's a map I got from terry at burger motor sports, just the one he emailed me and I'm sending him some logs but it feels great, a noticeably smoother tune than the wedge tune I had before, and feels more robust in the midrange. I'll see if he tweaks it based off logs or it's just good to go but I'm not disappointed either way, worth what I went through getting the cables and an android device(had to buy two because the first one I bought wasn't compatible with the use form factor used for MHD which I guess is a bit of luck of the draw on which ones don't), paying the license fee, and I'm trying not to get too excited in the little I've driven it but it feels great. It's a jb4 back end flash for running e85 and I run a jb4 for other features and the tune handles all fueling and timing, feels great.

Sounds like Neil will get his custom tuned, I'd be curious to hear how much extra power they get from strictly optimizing the tune if you're doing it with a Dyno?

I also flashed to MHD, from Cobb, although I haven't logged yet. I will this weekend, though.

Are you using an OTS map or custom? In either case, you should definitely log to make sure everything is OK.

I'm using the OTS Stage 1+FMIC 93 Oct map, but leaning toward a custom Wedge or PTF etune. I drove the car to work today, so I may do some logging on the way home.

Here's a log from just an hour ago. Thoughts? I'm not sure why afr spiked like that during the shift. Not sure why so many timing corrections under 3600rpm, with. Also, I have a afe intake, ets fmic, maddad midpipes, and ER cp. This is the stage1+fmic 93oct map.

Thanks for posting, really appreciate it.

The post shift air/fuel spike is normal and fine. Looks like that tune may be a bit aggressive for your fuel, and could use a few adjustments to improve overall smoothness.

Have you ever tried using a 93/E85 blend like E20?

You may want to do a careful pull in a taller gear just to make sure the tune is ok for extended use, but be sure to back off if timing pulls are excessive.

I haven't used e85 before, but it's widely available at the navy bases around here. Perhaps I should re flash to the 91 Oct map, then re-log. Thank you!!!

I did a 3rd gear pull, so a 4th gear pull would put me well over the speed limit....lol

Here's a handy calculator for determining how much E85 you need to achieve a desired blend.

What a great idea! Anything harmful in going to E25? I figure BMW has likely made the engine pretty much impervious to EtOH and I'm sure you get a couple of octane points by such maneuvers...

What are you looking for and what are your expectations? MHD sells standard off the shelf tunes, Wedge Performance and PTF sell custom tunes.

I want a good stand alone pump gas tune for my 1m.
Wedge performance told me that OTS maps are not recommended because a 1M is very special and a non-1M map just doesn't work well.
Also read about problems with US spec maps vs EU spec maps.

So i want to know if there are 1m owners with a custom mhd map and their experience before i buy the mhd flasher and a custom tune.
Don't want any troubles with my car.

I'm on an OTS MHD map right now. I would rather have a PTF or Wedge etune, but it seems fine to me for the moment. I'm waiting for sparkplugs to come in so I can relog and determine if it's plugs or shitty gas or both that's causing timing corrections. I'm not exactly why the 1M would be so different. Maybe ask Dzenno at PTF?
