135i Drunk driver crash on the news (Perth)

This is what 7 News said:

Driver was going an estimated 200km/h.
Up the kerb on the right hand side of the road, then over to the other side of the road and about 80ish meters went through the brick wall.
Driver and gf did a runner and apparently were drunk.
I forget if they found the owner right after or not.

abc report: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...09/2868516.htm

So, who was it? own up you idiot!

Shaun

It proves one thing. This car seems quite safe if after crashing at 200km/h they were able to make a run for it.

I wonder how they arrived at 200 as an estimate? I highly doubt even half that figure.

But yes, idiots

True - if that car had crashed at 200kph one would expect that it would have literally exploded on impact. All that kinetic energy has to go somewhere. Media exaggeration perhaps but doesn't draw from the fact that the driver is a bloody idiot..... and a very lucky one at that.

How do you even...wow looks like the 1er destroyed the wall and the occupants WALKED OUT? We're driving freakin armoured personnel carriers.

So whoever posts next in the 'For Sale' section with 'parts for a 135i' is guilty.

I think that's a safe assumption to make given the state of that wall

I think it's fair to say it's going straight through his wallet also...

Hopefully the wanker learns from this and changes his life. So many people think "it won't happen to me..."

Gives a bad name to us... bloody idiot.

who knows how they arrive at 200km - sounds good for the media. gf in car and going at 200km/h - they probably just had a domestic.

Well - good to know all airbags deployed as intended (unlike some other manufacturers) - that's the second known 1er accident in forum where the occupants walked out pretty much free of series injuries. (in this case - I guess they ran out)...

No way the engine bay area remains intact after a 200kph impact into a brick wall. The car there looks like there's plenty of crumple zone left

If the airbags deploy, thie car computer leaves the speedo at the speed at the point of impact. All the cops have to do is look at the speedo when they get there. BMW Technology for you.
