30,000+ miles on the odometer....

First time BMW owner and loving every minute of it. It gets better everytime I drive her.

What service(s) am I expected to perform on my 2012, E82 128i? It is a CPO and I bought it at 29,100+ miles.

I looked over the inspection sheet and everything is solid.

Anything else I should be concerned with at this point in the mileage?

Thanks in advance.

No. You've got a little bit of warranty time left and a 2012 is fairly mature into the car's life cycle (most of the bugs/problems should be ironed out). Just change oil when required, maybe brake fluid soon. Note my 128i is still reliable and I'm pushing 96K miles.

I appreciate the information Lucky1! I'm new to the BMW world so this is a big help indeed.

Thank you.

Oh and can I just say that I love my 1er.

OP - do you have 6MT or 6AT? My wife's 2011 128i M-Sport convertible is 6MT and I recently had an Indy shop change the fluid on both the manual trans and differential at approximately 37K miles. I had done this to a previous E46 and an E92. If your trans is automatic, you can probably go to 60K before changing the fluid and filter screen, but don't neglect doing this. Other things to check are the cabin filter (under the plastic cover near the windshield), air filter (requires removing the airbox), and, as previously mentioned the brake fluid (BMW recommends flush/refill every 2 years) plus a coolant flush/refill every 2 as well. Also wouldn't hurt to put some Techron in the gas tank next time you fill up. 40K miles on her car, recently changed the oil and got a clean bill of mechanical health from the Indy shop.

Thank you for chiming in roundel335! I have 6AT Steptronic. I will definitely take your advice to heart. I would be lost without all of the knowledge that you veteran BMW owners are willing to share.

Much appreciated.

You're welcome! Couple other small items: the battery on these cars seems to "go" overnight, so if you have difficulty trying to start it in the morning, you will likely have to replace the battery - not even a towtruck can jump-start it. Ours failed right at 3 years - yours might last longer. When replacing the battery, it has to be "registered" so that the charging system knows it's new and charges it correctly. The registration can be done at a dealership or using an application like Carly for BMW - runs on a smartphone or tablet (android or IOS) and their bluetooth OBDII adapter. That same tool will enable you to read and clear codes and also do some coding of features right from the tablet or phone. Total cost is about $100, and a little extra for the battery registration option.

Last but not least, if your TPMS starts giving you problems, your wheel sensors will need replacing. Good source for those is ********* - be sure you get OEM-style (Beru) that are black in color (depends on your production date, so be careful choosing).

It's going to self impload in your driveway if it doesn't get a full McDonalds meal with a milk shake.

I have a 2008 128i with 167,000 miles. Find the High Mileage 1ers thread and you can see my maintenance schedule. it's pretty aggressive, follows Mike Miller's BMW Maintenance schedule. But it works!

For my ~30K, I changed out the gear oil, diff fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, and air filters per Mike Millers recommendation

Why stop there? Have you considered the engine?
