2007 MS3 to 2008 135i - Loving it!

I joined 1Addicts a couple months back which helped me discover I must have a 135i. I honestly wasn't even looking for a new car especially since I loved my 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 and it's only a weekend car since I have a company car as a DD. But one lazy Sunday I made the "mistake" of continuning my research of the 135i and then browsing local sellers. Long story short, I ended up at a dealer, test driving, falling in love and by Monday had a deal done, sold the MS3 and never looked back.

Now I understand why people are so passionate about their BMW's - well, atleast those who are truly driving enthusiasts. It's an incredible piece of work especially compared to the unruly power of the MS3. I am totally in love and now find myself rubbernecking in parking lots at my own car.

So far I have only added the matte black kidney grills and the CPE front tow plate (no plates yet so haven't installed) as well as adding Arc Angels. I also upgraded the rear rubber to Bridgstone Potenza RE760 Sport 255/35/18 while the fronts already had RE050A 225/40/18. Looking forward to future mods and adding the rear carbon fiber spoiler, but most of all want to get this thing to the track and really learn the true art of how to handle this beauty.

Love the community and look forward to contributing.

Congratulations and welcome! In my array of cars, I had an MS3 at one point, but fwd + torque steer didn't do it for me

Congrats! The rears @ 255 will rub though on the fenders. I bought a 2nd hand 135i with those (albeit Hankooks) and immediately noticed a loud knock on the rear @ a dip, even with only myself and wife in the car - nothing else. I replaced these for Conti Sport Contact 3 245's that also have a less rigid vertical shape, instead curving inwards. No problems. Swear I have heard a slight rub from my 225's @ the front, but nothing worth mentioning. You've not had this issue? I came from a Golf 5 GTI, and for the last 2 years was waiting patiently for a price drop until I had some luck in my purchase. Enjoy the ride

Congrats! Your car looks great and it's a definite upgrade from the MS3

I was gonna get SGM/Coral but ended up with black/coral instead. Long story, but I wouldn't have been in time to get one custom built before the 09 model year production started when SGM was discontinued. I ended up with an off-the-lot auto (bah) BSM. Enjoy your rare color!

Not to thread jack, but 225/255 is pretty popular with most folks. See http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480650 for more info.

+1

And I run a very broad set of 255's (Dunlop Star Specs) and no rub, and I'm lowered on H&R sports.

Welcome to the forum and the community. I had a turbo Civic (FG) so I am sure we both felt the same sentiments on our test drives.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

Welcome to the forums and hopefully you will notice the "majority" of folks here are not as "bigadicks" as they tend to be on the MS forums. My son has a 10 MS3 and it is a very nice car but he has been flipping on what to do now since he drove the Cobb 135i. He discovered that FWD is "exciting" at that HP. It is a very nice car for a 20 year old though and can haul tires to the AutoX far easier than mine

Congrats! My fiancee has a SGM + coral red and loves it. Quick question, is your car lowered? Your car appears to sit lower... And her car has M package.

Not lowered that I am aware of and wasn't noted by the dealer I bought it from. Interesting you say that though, I have had a couple of random 1 owners come up and ask me the same question. Claim it looks "different".
