Very tempted. I'm keen to take my MX-5 to Eastern Creek since so far I've only had it out at Wakefield Park and Marulan. It's a shame Driving Solutions only do track days on Wednesdays. I'll need to take a day of annual leave and given that I'm just coming off six weeks of long-service leave, I'm not sure if it'll suit.

Won't be at this one (babymoon week) but am aiming for the one on August 19.

Totally fair enough mate. It works the other way round for me. Week days are easier to get off as I've been travelling a fair bit so need to be home weekends..

I'm booked in for this track day with my old MX-5. Look forward to seeing you there Duncan. It's getting a bit expensive though ... $300 now. It was $250 only last year.

I'm going for no car seat - right now we just have one for the wife's X3.

Nice one mate. I'll be at the EC Tavern around 8am if you fancy a coffee? If not I'll see you in the garage.

I'll be having my free espresso at EC. Remember they have the mobile coffee man there in the mornings!

Absolutely, it's way better than the shite at the tavern. I'm actually there to drop something off to someone. See you at the track, save me a spot!!
BTW, would you happen to have a video camera/mount? I'm doing a preso and just thought maybe you'd be bringing one I could borrow to tape a lap..
It would be more personal than a you tube lap.

I have a mount already in the MX-5 but nothing suitable yet for the 135i. I've been planning to make up a mount for the 135i. What I had in mind was like this: attach a short length of aluminium square tubing to the headrest of the front seat (using U-bolts around each headrest arm), and then a small bolt through the tubing that will screw into the camera, combined with a couple of washers to help spread the load and reduce rattle. I had a similar arrangement in my MINI and it worked a treat. A few dollars at Bunnings and about an hour to prepare it and you're on your way.

You can use my camera if you need it. I will also try experimenting with my suction cup mount too - that might work OK.

And fun was had by all at Eastern Creek yesterday. Except for the XR6 Falcon that caught fire in the boot (shorted wire from NOS system) and the SS Commodore wagon that blew smoke on the first session and again when he returned for another try in the late afternoon. Very pleased to see that the rain which was forecast held off until the drive home.

Official preview photos from JPM Photographics are HERE. Some very nice metal was on display. Lots of Porsche Cup cars, Lotus Elises, Radicals, M3s, IS-F, Aston Martin Vantage, Honda NSX, Ferrari F430 ... and a Holden Rodeo!!! And a few 1ers too ... there was Duncan's 135i coupe, a 135i vert and a 125i coupe.

Here is a video of my fastest lap on Wednesday (2:06.0). Not the tidiest lap in the world, but it was the best I managed on the day. Considering that's Duncan's 135i Coupe I'm following, the old MX-5 didn't do too badly.

How did your video turn out Duncan? Have you managed to post it online somewhere yet?

Thanks to Snapper's collection of photos, I pieced together this little sequence from Turn 12 at Eastern Creek.
