Damn.... all this news about these cracked breytons made me nervous.... Order a set 2 weeks ago, they should arrive any day now...
And with the potholes we have here.... Already starting to think it's a waist of money...

Anyway, the Breytons are very fragile. Doesn't surprise me. You must be very careful with these wheels.

Hmm I will have to check mine out. I have had them on for almost a year now. I dont see anything obvious on the outter rim but I will need to take them off and really check them. If they are cracked then I want to replace them with some Apex Arc-8's

What symptoms or signs would a cracked one exhibit during driving if any?

Love these wheels...

There's no way to tell if they are cracked unless you look at the inside (back side) of the rim lip.

I am waiting to see how Breyton handles things...a TUV approved wheel is pretty difficult to achieve so something is odd here.

I do have to say that German products are very good for the most part.

I want to have my GTS-Rs painted. I've grown tired of my blacked out theme. These wheels are painted not powder coated right? I've never had any wheels painted and was wondering how well they would hold up. I have had these wheels for about 2 years now and they have been very well taken care of. They still look new. My painter said he would paint and clear coat them for $200. He did a flawless job on my sideskirts for $150

My 5DR HB 118i is running on 18" Breyton GTS. 18 x 8,5 ET 35 for all 4.
fitted 225/40 front and 245/40 rear and observed some rubbing on the rear right side only when going over speed humps..

Previously on all 225/40 and and no problems even when i hit humps. is it because of my new 245/40? but if so, why is it that only the rear right wheels rub.

Sorry for reviving this old thread... But what's the verdict on the Breytons? I'm thinking Apex or Breytons... Breytons does look better. They will see at least some track duty. But if they are gonna crack...

As to now, no problems with mine. One track day only and Michelin SP2 225-40 and 245-35 Non Rtf.

So, is it basically that if you got a bad rim, then it's prone to cracking. And if you got a good one then it's all good?

Or is it really just a bad batch a year ago and it's all fine now?

Did Breyton came out to address why the rims that cracked did so? That's really bad publicity if they just ignored the high profile failures.

In contrast, look at Forgestar. They had a fiasco with the 1200 vs 1500 ratings. At least they came out to explain and introduced corrective measures. What is the position of Breyton on the cracked rims?

Because you, as the driver, add weight to the right side of the car.
