Does the dealer update software automatically?
My 135i will be at the dealer for a new driver's airbag in a couple weeks. Is it normal practice for the dealer to examine the software version in cars brought in for service, or if everything is working and the owner doesn't complain do they let it slide? I've been doing my own routine service since the warranty ended almost three years ago, so I am not sure what to expect.
Peace... Mack

As far as my parents' F10 is concerned, even under warranty the dealer didn't think to update the software until we complained about a slight misfire.

no. We do software updates only if A) its a recall, but you will be asked at time of write up and B) client complains about something that bmw tells us to update the software first, to see if it fixes the issue.
