Ordered a 125i in South Africa

Hi,

I am totally new here and this is my first post.
I ordered my 125i on the 14th June 09 and can only expect to get it on the 15th September 09! So needless to say I am climbing the walls and 1ADDICTS has been my haven for the last few days to keep me sane.
I have been reading the posts extensively and it has all been so helpful.
This really is an amazing group of passionate people!!

Oh my order!
I have ordered my car as follows:

125i Coupe
Sedona Red
Boston Black
Exclusive Model

Automatic Transmission with Steptronic
Shift paddles on Sports steering wheel
Chrome-line exterior
Glass Sunroof, electric with sliding and vent function
Sun protection glazing
Interior trim finishers, Black high-gloss
Headlamp washer system
Xenon headlights
Air-conditioner with microfilter
Navigation System, Professional
Voice control
Bluetooth compatible cellphone preparation
Hi-Fi loudspeaker LOGIC 7 System
Area code 2 for DVD
USB-/Audio Interface
Acoustic seat belt warning
Multifunction for steering wheel
Automatic anti-dazzle interior mirror
Park Distance Control (PDC),front and rear
Rain sensor and automatic headlight control
Cruise Control On Stalk-switch
Extended Light Package

I debated long and hard with all the options and trust me, no choice was made without deep thought. I know it is stacked with options, but
I chose the 125i due to the large price difference here in SA between it and the 135i.
I am sure the 125i is enough for me. (haven't test driven a 135i and plan to keep it that way)
I actually was originally looking at the 120d, but after all the options I want, they both ended up virtually the same price!! So the song of the inline 6 it was for me!!

I have scoured the forums extensively, and have some questions I hope you can help me with.

1. It seems unclear as to how much of the iDrive's HDD space is dedicated to music. is it 12gb or 8gb?
2. Sun protection glazing, is this a clear film or it this Window tinting?
3. Does the acoustic sealt belt warning make a difference?

Look forward to being part of this community. You are all a great help during my long wait...

Sorry for such a long post.

Thanks!

Nice - Did you get it from the BMW dealer in Capetown?

I visited South Africa two years ago and had a great time!

Thumbs up

wmo168: Johannesburg, like any city, has its bad areas and share of problems. It's the economic hub of Africa and is home to many news cars and toys. Unless you classify yourself as a VIP, having a bodyguard is just plain ridiculous. Look to South America for that kind of excitement. From personal experience, insurance on my coupe isn't too bad. Its 'rarity' reduces premiums.

VanillaRush: Congratulations on the 125i order! The coupe really is a special beast and your options list looks top notch. I've only seen one example of Sedona red and it looks gorgeous!

I'd imagine it to be a permanent bonded tint and not a film but I stand to be corrected.

It's your standard safety nanny gong which starts off slow and intensifies if driver and/or passenger don't buckle up.

... Of course it is!! Car jacking is everywhere, and is no more prevalent here than in any other part of the world. As with all places... there are some places you do not go... and you will be fine!
No body guard at all... actually don't know of anyone that does... except for the president.
Insurance isn't expensive.
It is a special place... wouldn't want to go anywhere else.
Gets a bad reputation from the media... but people only focus on the 5% bad rather than the 95% GOOD.

South Africa is, and will always be my home...

Thanks Cra1g!!
Appreciate it, can't wait for it to arrive!

Thanks for your help on the questions. Do you know if the tint is clear or not?

PS: How terrible is the world perception of our Jozi?

Wow the perception is bad!

Bear in mind South Africa does get black amg's, special edition lambo's (lp's, superlaggeras) ferraris(scuderia, modenas) etc.
so yea. Its safe to drive a new bimmer
We even have a few zondas and koenigseggs thanks to lolly jackson and some loaded indian guy

Bmw and mercedes ect are less likely to get stolen when compared to VW Mazda etc..

Welcome here VanillaRush.

We need a few more 1ers on our roads, makes the environment look a whole lot better.

You a have good list of options.
Sun protection glazing keeps an already cool looking car, even cooler inside and has the same UV reduction effect as the stick on Sun protection / smash-n-grab films.
Xenon lights, well once you have had them, you will never go back.

How are you going to see the waitng period out ?, well consider it character building.

Polljimmy, your statement above confuses me...
What must I wait for? My order is completed and I merely waiting for it to arrive. My complete order is stated at the top of the thread.

Hi..with regard to the size of HDD for Music files... I read somewhere that the HDD is 80Gb with 12Gb for files ..I think. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. That could be a UK spec only, of course.
