Best place for tints in Chicago?
Anyone know of the best place to get good quality tints in Chicago/Northern Suburbs? I'm not too worried about price if they are done right.

try e90 post and search there, I remember a few posts popping up. I got mine done here in Lisle. Ill be honest, i didnt get the best results and they actually do all the tints at a BMW dealership. I remember one named shaded days had a lot of good reviews but dont have personal experience.
What are you going to have done? what percent? All around? |

Yeah, I'm doing all around since the law was passed. I think you can go up to 35%, but I'm not sure, but if the limit is 35%, I'll probably do that.

Yeah good call on the 35%all around honestly. Also, I have never been a big fan of the super dark tint in the rear then lighter in the front. It just doesnt flow well to me. I have 35% all around on my SGM with black interior and I think its perfect. I think it will look good on your Space Gray as well.

Yeah I dont like the two different shades in the front and back. It doesnt look right to me either. I posted on the chitownm forum and they said Umbra in Schaumburg. So I sent an email to them requesting a quote. Once, I hear back, or call them, I'll post up what they say.

I can recommend Sunset GT. I used him about 5 or 6 years ago on my 325. He did a great job and was very conscientious. Tint is still holding up very very well. I can't remember where his shop is, but if I dig up his card I will let you know.
edit: www.sunsetwindowfilms.com/ I want to get mine done too. Maybe we can arrange a package deal, or a referral discount. |

I am having a very hard time deciding between 35% and 50%. With my black on black interior, I am concerned the 35% will be too dark. What have you guys looked at?

I did 35% all around. Turned out really well. I definitely recommend Umbra. Really cool guys and they do really good work. They even gave me a copy of the law to keep in my glove box haha.

That looks great. I no longer have any reservations. 35% is absolutley the way to go. Dark enough but not too dark.
Thanks so much for the pics. When you get the areas touched up after it's dry, can you send a pic of your concern? Please? Sorry to be such a pain. Enjoy. |

Yeah, I'll put pics up after I get it touched up, but you can kinda see the areas in this picture. Its where the dots on the windows are at the edges, right above the door handle.
I was going to do either 35% or 50%. Nino (owner/installer, etc) showed me his car with 50%. It didnt even look like it had tints on it, that made my decision easy. He said that all he's been doing is 35% for everyone that comes in. Thats what everyone asks for. |

just go with 35% that way you cant get a ticket with it. I also think it just looks "classy" too dark looks ghetto...well kinda. I have to admit dark ass tint on white is bad ass.
