FS: Komet stickers for the 1
Hi folks,
I had seen this nose emblem before on the ME 163B Komet, which was a WWII German rocket plane made to shoot down B17's, and always thought it would be appropriate for our 1's. This particular example is from the 2./JG400, which flew from Holland and later Germany. I had some of the 'Flea' unit emblem printed up as stickers. These are 3" x 2.75", and printed on a white background with a UV coating. The translation is "Like a flea, but OHO!". I had to order a minimum quantity of 30, so I have some left over. You can respond here, PM me, or email me at starwangle at hotmail.com if you'd like one: they'll be $3.50 (shipped) within the continental US, paypal preferred... Hope you like! ianc

Haha because everyone REALLY wants to be associated with WW2 era germany :P
If you end up making these with no background (or like a rub-on, peel off decal where you press the sticker on and peel away the background, leaving just the decal), i'd get one. With the white, it looks a little off IMHO though.. Still badass though.

Best would be a thin white border around the shape of the design, but diecutting the stickers would have increased the cost very substantially. You could still try it yourself with an X-Acto blade I suppose. Thanks for the feedback, ianc

I find it very interesting that you want to put a decal from a Nazi German aircraft onto your 21st century German automobile. It's got 'poor taste' written all over it.
Just my 2 cents. |

I think the comparison would be a good one (the planes were the only rocket plane to be produced in large numbers as of today, they set the speed record at the time, they are small/pack a punch..), but it's overshadowed by the whole nazi thing..

Id be willing to rock it. It doesnt have any Nazi parafenailia on it and its just nose art.
Nose art on planes was a personal or squadron thing. Not political in any way. Ohh and before people start calling me a Nazi or whatever, im a german jew...I know second hand about what went on there. |

its not too hard to understand, though my grandpa, who served in WWII, was the kind of guy to do things against the grain woulda been with me. He knew first hand how much of an anti semite Henry Ford was from his grandfather working the assembly line back in the 20's. So what does he do when he creates some success for himself and his family? He goes out and buys a 1924 Model T (this was like in 1960). At the same time, I don't think he had a nazi war emblem sitting in his back window. It's just a respect thing in my eyes, displaying that kind of stuff might not be intended to be offensive but you are representing something a little deeper than just a cool nose emblem on an old airplane. |

I like it. I really don't see poor taste at all either. It is obvious that only a small section of Germany shared the political views of the Nazi party, and most that were in the party did not think that it was much of a party, and were there mostly because they didn't understand exactly what was going on behind closed doors until after the war ended from Germany. It is really no different than someone rocking the Rising Sun flag on their Honda.
Maybe leave a thin trim line of white around everything. That will usually pop it from the window.

yeah you're right, no big deal.
BTW I was going to make some stickers of my own if anyone is interested. I'm thinking a large 8x14" rear window sticker. Its a cool looking insignia I found from the Taliban. I mean so what if you know people who died or had family die in 9/11... its just a logo right? I think it makes my car look BOSS. So who's in? |

That's an entirely different thing man. Don't take it out of context.
My grandmother had numbers tatooed on her arm and never wore short sleeves. My family knows exactly what went on behind those walls. But don't be a Nazi Nazi. It's an old nose emblem and it's kinda funny honestly. there is really no bad taste involved. |

yeah big difference. Taliban kills people in present times, the nazi's only did it 65-70 yrs ago. It's still the same concept. and whether they agreed with killing jews or not, the nazi soldiers still killed people for the wrong reasons, justified to them or not. An emblem that was on a nazi plane/rocket is a nazi emblem none the less and its association is why its offensive.

Then I guess you won't be slapping and Enola Gay sticker on the front of your car any time either. I guess all American soldiers are in the same boat based on your description. Think of how many of the Japanese viewed American soldiers after we dropped not one, but two hydrogen bombs on civilian cities. War is hell bud.
For what it's worth...NAZI was the controlling political party...Not the people of Germany.

^That's exactly my point. Do you know what American soldiers did in vietnam?
A lot of them killed babies and women. Don't take the moral highroad because they are Nazis and we aren't |

I am not a fan of killing anyone for any reason but defense is different than offense (not that we haven't been on both sides of that). And FWIW, I know about the NAZI party and how not all Germans were necessarily Nazi's, but this isn't a grandma's home made German apple pancake receipe now is it? This nose emblem was used on planes/rockets that killed people in the name of German (and white) superiority, an offensive, not in self defense. I don't see how anyone can support that in any way shape or form with out it being considered distasteful. Do you want a logo of Saddam's Presidents Guards insignia on your car? I doubt it. But did they personally kill any Americans or anything like that... lets say they didn't. It's the symbolism involved that you are displaying something that represented something that was morally unjust and wrong. |
