Rear ended today .... where's the damage ?

Dont you luvit .... the rear parking sensor warns you that a 90 grey-haired granny is about to back into you

Pity she cant hear you repeatedly blast the horn .... nor see you in her rear view mirror. I didnt get out for 30 seconds after the crunch ... I needed to chill instead of kill.

The good news is her cruddy old Pulsar had a football sized round crush in her rear bumper ..... the 1er seemed totally unblemished - indeed I had to drag her details out of her as she saw no damage.

A quick wash of the car showed the smallest almost pimple-like bump ..... amazing .... if I didnt point it out you wouldnt notice. Amazing considering her damage

Did you have your car in reverse while granny was reversing into you for your parking sensor to come on?

A similar thing happened to my dad's old 5 series... his had no seeable damage while the other guys car had a huge dent.
With the 1's (and the other new bmws) i think its a lot to do with that absorption thing they have which allows the bumpers to move a little on impact.

Yes you're right. After I hit the wallaby in my car the bumper looked completely in shape, but you could tell it had deformed to a great extent because the lower grill was smashed, the intercooler was dented and my number plate was all buckled.

Grunt as a word of warning I would get your car inspected as you don't know that there hasn't been damage behind the bumper. My wife's car had a similar experience and it looked fine, when we got it checked we found they packing material in the bumper was kaput and the mounts were damaged. Just me 0.05.
