Ahhh ok! last time i went for a drive out to Sutherland and was charged $30 to reset.

Interesting; Trivett refused to reset mine unless they did the service. I told my SA I knew how to do it from the dash and he smiled and suggested "That's also one way to do it."

Happy to do it if you supply oil, a case of beer.... Mind you, bmrox will be the final decider on that!

Our oil changes are fast doing them together.

You want to know how much dealers rip, I just got charged $290 for a standard Oil service from Toowoomba BMW. and another $340 to replace spark plugs.

I'm now looking for a good BMW mechanic in Brisbane.

I've been quoted:

$1800 to replace Steering Angle Sensor (SZL)
$2200 to replace exhaust valve lifters

I don't know but that seems like a hell of a lot. I'm really over the dealer tax being charged.

Sounds cheap. Brisbane BMW want to charge me $400 to change my oil.

As for a good BMW mechanic in Brisbane, try RX Automotive, Midas Tingalpa, Brisbane Motor Works Coorparoo.

I suggest doing your own oil changes. Grab a set of ramps or two jacks and go for broke.

It's simple, and fast. Save yourself a hundred (or a few hundred), plus choose your own oil.

I'm up for an air filter replacement soon and theres no way BMW are doing it!

I really see no value in using BMW to service these cars. Any mechanic worth their salt can still do anything they can do to an engine, provided they have the tools and the diagnostic equipment. They charged just over 2k to change the oil and the front discs and pads on my car when the previous owner had it.

And for anyone sugseting that the resale of the car is greater with BMW's stamp in the book, you'd have to get a hell of a price for your car at sale time to recover the lost money on services if you had of went with someone else.
