M3 January '07 release?
Auto Motor und Sport has the M3 releasing in January 2007 on thier vehicle forecast calendar. Could the M3 come out as early as 6 months after the e92 coupe (August 2006)?

Word is they may release the E90 M3 a couple months before the E92 M3 that will feature a carbon fibre roof and other weight saving features.
So E92 release date may not affect E90 M3

I heard that carbon fiber roof was for the e93 M3 to make it lighter than the aluminum based regular e93 three piece roof.
I thought M3 coupes came out before the sedan. The only time there has been a US spec M3 other than a coupe was the e36. The e36 M3 coupe was from '95-'99, sedan from '97-'98 and the convertible from '98-'99. But who's to say history will be a predictor in this case. It will be an exciting couple months if they release all these new models so close to one another. Especially since we have been waiting almost a year since the e90 release to get official e92 information. |

What I have:
- current M3 production ends this Summer - this year is the 20th anniversary of M3, therefore BMW are eager to show Concept M3 on forthcoming auto shows - since show & promo cars are already in preparation, Concept might be shown in Geneva - I was told cars in preperation were Coupes - M3 sedan will come after M3 coupe. If. - we could witness M3 launch (Europe) even in this year (very end), but in early 2007 for sure Mind M engines are hand made - the production is very limited. That's why M5 Touring and M6 Cabrio are still not for sale although being ready for production: BMW can't made enough V10 M engines to meet a demand. Building an inventory is going slower than planned. When the inventory is built, they can launch M5 Touring & M6 Cabrio. I guess it will be the same case with M3. Other variants (sedan, Touring) will depend on M3 Coupe & Cabrio demand. |
