Better throttle response
Hi,
I have a 128i 2012 with 6MT. I plan doing some mods to my car but still not decided on what route to follow. I will surely begin to start searching for an used 3 stage manifold. Not sure about the air intake as the gain is not that much, possibly modify the stock one with a better filter and remove the charcoal filter and of course a tune. I know these mods are good but I hesitate because my car as a daily driver don't often go over 3500rpm. The first thing that I want to improve is the pedal response. I find it so hard compare to my 2.5 rabbit that my rabbit seem to accelerate more rapidly I read that a tune with an automatic transmission improve that but is it the same with a 6MT or is it something else that I can do? Thanks Kafou |

Just put your foot down a bit more. All a "throttle" tune does is make the gas ramp up more quickly. You can get the same exact effect by using more of the stock pedal, while retaining the ability to be a smooth.

I know I can do this but this is the first car that I have to be so heavy on the gas pedal. If there a way to change this I'm interested.

a sprint booster may help. makes your pedal effectively more sensitive.

I have a Pedal Box in my 135I 6mt and it's really nice. Instant throttle response and several settings to adjust. Very noticeable difference from stock.

R&T says your Rabbit weighs 3150 and goes to 60 in 8.1 sec; your 128 should feel substantially faster with less weight and 0 to 60 in under 6 sec.
You might want to have your 128 looked at...take the air filter off and check everything...something's not right if your throttle feels sluggish and your Rabbit feels faster...
