Just make sure you don't overspray tyre shine onto the plasti-dip. There was a thread on these forums where a guy did that and it bubbled his plasti-dip coat.

I think you mean dipyourcar.com.

Also, this is the Aussie forum. I see you are from Long Island, NY? We have to pay ridiculous prices on everything locally but unlike other products, plasti-dip is flammable and can't be conventionally shipped. We are stuck with $25-40 bucks a can...

Hows this stuff react to heat? Wheels must get damn hot being so clise to the rotors. It might not bubble or peel but does it still removable? If so its amazing stuff

How did you take out the centre caps with the wheels on?

Or did you just cover it with something?

With plasti-dip you just spray over everything and then peel it off afterwards.

As there's a decent gap around the edge of the centre cap I'd assume you'd be able to spray over it and peel off what's on the centre cap after it's dry without affecting the coat on the wheel itself.

When spraying an entire car they normally don't cover the lights etc. Just spray right over it and peel off the light after.

Yeah I read somewhere that people sprayed over it and used a tool to cut around the cap and peeled it off - just didn't know whether that would leave a rough edge, guess I shall experiment...

I'll probably do my wheels this weekend...

You shouldn't need and shouldn't use any kind of cutting tool because that definitely would leave a rough edge.

Check out youtube videos by dipyourcarcom. They have heaps of how to plasti-dip videos from grills, to wheels to the entire car. The videos cover the entire process from masking, to applying and then to peeling off the overspray areas.

Just plastidipped my wheels - very easy to use after you get the hang of it (even strokes at same distance) and turned out great.

I'd post pics but looks just like the OP's...

Some notes:
- Recommend that you remove the centre cap if spraying with wheels on, because pulling the plastidip off (after spraying over it) ripped off a bit of the chrome plating on the badge;
- Remember to clean the nozzle between sprays;
- Dry your wheels THOROUGHLY, I found out that heaps of water got retained behind the centre cap and had to redo one of the wheels.

So how's the finish hold up after 2 weeks? Does the brake dust and grime wash off easily?

No issues so far, but haven't tried to clean it yet. I'll let you know after I clean it and have a closer look this weekend!
