Buy the 1M stuff from BMW as OEM parts. So get 1M front fenders, rear fenders, front and rear bumpers. I think the places you are looking at are to make a 135 look like a 1M while not being a widebody. ECS has OEM BMW parts, I believe. Im suprised they didnt total it.

I dont have a list of part numbers but there is a part number list here on the forum somewhere. One of the guys that replied to this post has done the conversion and came up with a very good list. If you go widebody, than to make the wheels flush, you might need wheel spacers (depending on what wheels you have now) but its a good excuse to buy wider wheels and tires. More fender = more tire = more traction.

Then just get some spacers. Like I said, search, there has been a few guys that have done the conversion. IlikeBMXbikes or whatver his name is has done the conversion and has a very good write up with parts break down. Then when you get tired of spacers, you can sell your wheels and get some wider ones. I dont know all the differences either, I think the fenders are like 1inch wider than the standard 135. Its going to take some research and time to figure everything out but it will be worth it

They're talking about doing a 1M conversion with OEM parts. Go read up on ilikebmxbikes, Venom, and Mybad135's threads to get an idea of what they did.

They also were completely awesome and have listed all the part numbers needed as well in their threads. Lots of props to them!

IMO its worth it to go OEM. I'd rather do 135 stock parts or 1M stock parts than a 1M aftermarket kit. I'd read that thread get a quote for all those parts and see how much more it'll cost than if you went with the 135 stuff. Might be worth it, might not. I'd strongly consider it either way. A 1M conversion for a grand out of pocket would be so worth it for me. For $3k I'd stick 135 parts. Its all your choice, but at least know your options.

I'm fine doing $1000-$1500 out of pocket but over that it's going to get too complicated...and I do want my car back soon...don't have another and insurance won't pay for "out of shop days"

Since you're in Boston, you need to find a good body shop who can do that stuff too. A few of the guys who did the rear arches chose not to use OEM 1M rear fenders and had stock fenders modified to keep costs down. Although that's a good route to go, I personally wouldn't trust any Boston body shop to do those type of rear fender flare mods. I know the guys at DTM/M1Autobody in LA from way back and there is no one around here in Boston I've seen that can do a similar job. So for me, I would factor in OEM rears fenders.

What drawbacks are there with going with prior or kerscher and NOT doing the wide body....I need to make a decision quickly
