Yes, it needs programming first. We've had a few customers (1Addicts) come in and they had already installed it. Problem that we found out was it actually needs programming first. So we had to uninstall, program, and then re-install.

Will it need updated once the hardware is installed? My understanding initially was that there is a setting that is in the software that has to be set by the dealer. Or can I just tell the dealer to update me to the latest software and enable the alarm?

Also, do you know if there is any way to get the updated software for free or am I going to have to pay? I know my dealership will try and charge as much as they think they can get away with.

I really don't know. I just know the basic procedure for service is to Program->Install->Satisfied Customer.

As far as your dealer programming for free, I highly doubt it but give your SA a call and see what a quote is.

sorry if it's a stupid question but can we just take in the alarm itself and have it programmed then install ourselves? also if so, can you program it then ship it out? and how much are we looking at to get it programmed?

The car must be programmed, not the alarm itself.

Also for an update for post 03/09 model cars... the alarm will be an option during ordering, not available as an accessory.

Varies by dealer.. Rodi walked out paying $431.10 for parts and service back in Nov.

Identical to the manual transmission except for the holes in the back for the paddle shifters

Dan, can I have the car reprogrammed then install a week later? Or is there a time limit? Also, what is the latest software I should be getting and will it fix the lag issue on the pre march builds?
