Well that could be a problem. According to others if you install the hardware first the car will reject the initial software update. So they'll have to disconnect the hardware and update the software, then after reconnecting the hardware they'll have to put it back on the computer to activate the alarm.

According to the tech who has installed numerous alarms at our shop, it has to be programmed first. Even the service advisor said it needed programming before retrofit. I'd ask one more time to make sure.. then confirm if we are wrong or not. It would be useful information. Proceed with caution because if you install it before programming (if it does in fact need programming first) they are going to stick you two times instead of once. We had a 1Addicts member install the parts and bring it in. We charged him only once because we are sponsors... but we had to uninstall, program, and re-install.

Picked up the car this afternoon and restated the "needs to be programmed first" to the SA. She walked me out to the service area and brought out the manager and I laid it all out for him, and his bottom line is, on the 2009 with the latest software, install first and program second. I said, OK, I'm doing the DIY on the alarm and bringing it in and I'm holding you to your quote on the programming (which was very reasonable) and I'll see you next week. He said he looked forward to it (in a nice way).

Stay tuned.

What was I thinking?

BTW, I just bought new oem ecode headlights (for my other car) shipped from england because US vendors want $200 more than what I paid for them shipped. They say prices are high due to the exhange rate.

I'd like to see group buy for the carbon fiber diffuser.. somewhere around $1100-1200 shipped!
