Questions 2008 135i
I'm curious as to how many younger people drive a 135i. I got a 2007 328i when I was 15. Got rear ended which totaled the car. Now I have a 2008 135i at 17. Any other under 20 Bmw lovers. Also, I'm looking to do some things to my car. What are some good performance and cosmetic aftermarket mods?

I'm 20, which seems to be quite young for BMW owners I guess. Most people think my parents must have purchased my car for me , when I actually pay for it myself. haha

Judging by the posts that I read on this site, I would say most of the authors of them are pretty young or first time BMW owners in general.

The second part is me asking advice on aftermarket performance mods. Such as, what are some small things you can do to create small gains. I'm not looking to go all out.

That is far too broad of a question to ask, you'll have to be more specific. And I promise at least 4 people are gonna tell you to search after asking such a question

Mods
The first mod I would sugest would be a tuner, I love my Cobb and **********s.com is a great place to get them as they will work with you on the price and ship it for free. I added a cold air intake also and i'm not sure it added any power but it sure does sound cool lol. My next round of mods is FMIC and Down pipe.

Not to be an ass but the first mod I would do would be the driver. Unless you have a skilled racing background I would take some driving classes, racing and driver safety. And that's not an insult I feel that everybody should take those. That is alot of car for somebody without the proper experience of starting with lesser cars. Unfortunately the last decade didn't produce any nice fun RWD cars that the 70s, 80s and 90's did that most enthusiasts grew up with. My driving around in a RWD car most people got to learn how to drive a car to it's limits and understand the balance of cars and how they react at on cars that didn't have the limits of these cars. You might consider getting a set of wheels and really cheap tires, a JB4 that you can turn off the boost and gradually set it to higher power levels and find some back roads or a track and learn the car. From there keep upping the power on the crap tires and when you can handle all that in all weather situations then swap you tires back knowing the chances of you not being able to handle the car are alot slimmer.
Other than that a tune, intake, intercooler, DP's are the typical path for more power and M3 suspension, bushings upgrades are the path to a nicer feeling and handling. If you got E85 you can run a mix and take advantage of that for more power.

I fully agree. I'd like to take some driving courses and learn more about it all. I had a 328i previously and then got rear ended and it totaled the car. The car is used 48k Miles. The previous owner put in 6000k HID angel eyes in and put wider tires on there. I'm not planning on diving in because I realize this car has a lot of power for someone my age. Thank you for the advice and honesty.

If you bought the car be proud of yourself and if your parents bought you the car be proud to have such generous parents. I bought my first BMW when I was 19 and have been in love ever since.
For mods, Brusk speaks the truth! I feel that I can drive well but have a ton to learn at 32. One of the best things that I ever did was go to a test and tune auto x event and ran the car with one of the organizers in the pass seat coaching me. Not only was this more fun than one should have I learned more about that car and its limits in an hr than I did in the year of owning it. After that, JB4, Meth, DP's, FMIC, Exhaust! Good luck and be safe man! |

One of the best first mods, as Brusk mentioned, you can do is take a drivers course. I won't point to a specific one but there are allot of good ones out there. Not sure why people worry if someone who's 17 owns a BMW or a Fiesta... Though I'm well over 17 my first vehicle's were a 68 VW bug which after I modded it out Bug style I probably spent 12K plus I had a 78 Chevy Blazer, the real full size truck with a 350 not these mechanical weenies they produce nowadays...no offense to any owner intended. But still after the Rancho kits, Wheels and tires etc it probably cost me the equal what buying a 135 would cost now a days. After all that the JB4 would be a good start....but once you get the itch it's hard not to keep scratching...

I'm 20, have a 2008 135i, but I used to have an e30 swapped with an S52, built it from the ground up and not too long ago it was totaled, insurance wrote me a $1,800 check, so my parents decided to help me buy my new car
