Another one down....
So the girlfriend was driving. Well this happened....
So damage to the driver side door, side skirt, rear quarter and the rim. It stops and drives just fine. No weird sounds or clunks. It was low impact and speed but it's pretty dented on the quarter. Insert crying face now I'm just glad all parties were alright and no injuries. Girlfriend was beyond upset |

Ouch. I bet that caused some shrinkage. My wife drives her car and motorcycle and I drive mine partially for this reason. First wife did stuff like curb wheels, scrape the side panels, didn't mind parking in close quarters etc. After I said enough, I sequestered her to her car which was somehow pristine. 2nd wife agrees to the rules lol. This doesn't mean it's completely separate but very rare we drive one another's vehicles.

Well we share the one vehicle (I'm late 20s and she's early 20s, both in school). She drives slow and to the rules, doesn't park close to many cars ect.. If something happens like curbing a rim, she will ask to pay for them to be refinished.
I'm not sure how it happened. I think either a guy sped up when she was merging lanes. The other vehicle had to be towed. The 1er is most definitely built like a Sherman tank. Have to call the insurance tomorrow and start a claim. Reporting center (for accidents) said about 5grand in damage. We have 1000$ deductible, so I guess we will save that in rim buying. |

OP, sorry about your damage but it's superficial and can be mended. To ease the pain get a small upgrade when you get it repaired, like the BMW Performance side skirts. That'll make you feel a little better about it, plus they'll look great on your car. Who knows, maybe it'll inspire you to get more Performance parts and you'll transform your car. That stinks man, glad everyone was alright, accidents happen. If you're going to get it fixed through insurance, go to a certified BMW shop for the quote, then ask to get/install some of the parts yourself (wheels/side skirts). You can save some money and get the parts you want that way.

Could've been a lot worse. Sucks to see / hear though. I think if my GF did that, she'd be scared to come home.

Nah Stewy... She puts up with a lot of crap and supports me 100% in any decision I make. It sucks she did it, but it happens. She was bailing her eyes out when she called. Couldn't say sorry enough really over the phone. I'm just glad no one is injured |

So... Update:
Car goes in Monday morning to start repairs. My dads buddy who is the body guy yelled at his boss because he wants to put a new quarter on the car. He said if they do that, the body lines and such will never be the same. He wants to work and massage the kinks out himself. Also, if the rims can be refinished. I'll get all 4 done and repainted either matte or gloss black to suit the shadowline trim. I'll post the total in CAD once the work is done. I feel it might be somewhere near the 7k mark, as long as there isn't suspension damage or the like. Other then that not much else. Just looking forward to having my baby fixed and made whole. I'm truly embarrassed to drive around with her in such condition. Not sure how other people can drive around with busted cars, just shows a lack of respect to the vehicle, but I guess nowadays most people don't even clean up their houses to look nice from a curb side appeal of things. |

I had a similar hit on mine. Luckily I had a really good body guy, and he was able to pull, bend, hammer everything back perfectly. Can't tell it was damaged at all. If the rear 1/4 was replaced, it would be obvious that all the factory seams would now look different, especially where the 1/4 attaches under the trunk lid. |

Alright, car is in the shop and got a Charger rental. Man this car stinks. It's new and all but it's a fu$#%g BOAT! Anyway, here's the scoop.
$2,800 is what the body shop estimated the repairs at. Insurance came back with $3,300 roughly. There will be 0 cutting, just popping the panels out and massaging it all back into place. I did ask how much a front bumper respray will cost, they said about $500, but I'm sure if I showed up with cash in hand it could be less. So that's where I'm at now. Ughhhh... |
