Question Is this normal?

Hi fellow 1ADDICTS. I wanted to know if you guys thought this amount of rust is normal for an almost 7 year old car.

All posts are appreciated.

Thanks!

I have to check my rotors but I seem to recall the same amount on my 4 year old car. I think it just depends on the amount of moisture your car is exposed to.

BTW, I think I see a little rust on your 313 wheel. I'll be glad to take them off your hands to deal with the rust.

Yes, please check yours and let me know if it looks similar. Thanks!

Funny... I don't see any rust on the wheel itself. If I didn't know better, I'd be thinking you're trying to finagle me out of my precious 313s.

Quite normal - the rotors are cast iron (IIRC), heck if you leave the car out overnight when the humidity is greater than 80% you'll see rust on the rotor surfaces.

Mine is four years old and looks similar. It's more humid in VA than CA.

Mine looks the same as yours. Time to upgrade to some 2 pieces/ coated rotor.

They look fine. Rotor hat is iron. Though, do yourself a favor and dismount the wheel and clean the rust from time to time. It likes to seize up the mating surface. Ask me how I know, that was frustrating.

Yep as others said super normal. Swapped my rotors last July and within a few months they were rusty like that.

The front rotor hat on the 135 is aluminium.

I replaced my rotors at around 80k miles. The lack of rusting of on my new setup was worth the cost.

I remember your pics of that. Looks pretty cool. A 'home away from home' with 100hp. Don't feel too bad about that 100hp; my first car was a slightly used 1968 bug with only 53hp. Sure was fun, though. Of course your Westy weighs a lot more than my little bug did.

Yeah at about 4,500 lbs loaded for camping it doesn't get anywhere fast. 100hp is a vast improvement over the 67hp stock though. It gets me into some great wilderness up here in the PNW with a nice comfy place to sleep.
