I've got spiders!
This is not a new problem for me...Ive had spider infestations in several other cars Ive owned in the past. I live in the midwest in a busy downtown city, rarely visit the country. Car spends all time parked in a public parking garage. I have been going out to my car to find more and more spider webs...on the mirrors, on the doors, on the trunk act. Not only that but they are inside too. In the edges of the windows Im fining spiders in nests they are building nestled in the grooves. When i chase them out an obviously pregnant spider comes running out...happening daily. worse of all these are yellow sac spiders, classified as "poisonous". Ive had these exact spiders in some of my past cars but never knew they were actually poisonous...
Anyway, I REALLY wanted to keep my 128i for the long run, its a fantastic driving car...but i have NO CLUE how to fix my problem! There is no way im using harsh chemicals in a car i drive in everyday...so that option is out. Im at a loss on what to do...anybody have any experience with this or ideas? |

Something you could try if you didn't want to use a bug bomb because of staining the headliner, smell and getting in a/c and stuff. Get a bunch of dry ice in a big bucket. Then roll all the windows up and sun roof basically seal the car so gas can't escape. Then leave the bucket on the floor somewhere and just leave the car for a day.
When the dry ice melts and turns back into CO2 gas it should eventually suffocate all of the spiders. Then just let the car air out for a while before you drive it so you don't suffocate. CO2 is odorless and is strictly a gas so you should be golden. |

Lulz at these other responses. Seriously though dry ice does work. Insects need oxygen just like us so they will die. They might even crawl out into the open to gasp their last breath before the co2 suffocates them and then you can just vacuum them up.

They got there through the vents (unless you park with windows open) so there will always be places for air to come in. Bombing it with CO2 is not going to work unless the compartment is absolutely airtight and you manage to fill the cabin with 100% CO2. All this talk about spiders gasping for breath is silly. They don't have lungs like mammals. They get oxygen through a network of holes in their legs and absorb O2 by endosmosis. They absorb (however minor O2 present) what they need and reject the rest. There is no choking involved to teach them a lesson. lol.

I mean, how badass would it be to have an iguana as a co-pilot. |

Kinda glad you made this thread, as it reminded me that I need to get some spider spray because I've spotted a few egg sacks in my garage and I would like to prevent your little issue.

If you play this out, you'll need a cow to get the goat to get the dog to get the cat to get the bird to catch the spider that wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.

How about trying one of those electrical bug repellents things you plug into the wall.. just run an extension into the car and leave it overnight. Probably repeatedly.. something about spiders suggests they are way more determined than your average bug.
If it doesn't work make you could always make a bad connection.. sparks = fire... fire = dead spiders and insurance = .......
