This poll is completely ridiculous.
The E90's wheelbase & the E92's wheelbase are both the same @108.7.

Buyer's are not going to notice much difference....the E92's a little longer & a little wider & has
different taillights, but that's about it other than 2 doors vs 4 doors.

I dont think it does, it's the same car except in a coupe and coupes always looks better to some degree. I think it makes the E46 look dated, but the E46's are still nice...

I kind of agrree with you.The front end of the e92 is better, cleaner. The e90's eye brow grill is some extra non functional frosting. The tailights of the e90 are also not as slick as the e92. I bet the e92 front and rear fascias {or something close} will eventually migrate to the e90 sedan. That being said I still like my e90.
We have to remember that many times all designs can be better. It is simply evolution.

I voted 3.
Let me guess BMW's marketing strategy for a coupe variant of E90. Example, does a CLK look anywhere near a C ? If CLK is better why there are more C than CLK, the answer is simple:-
CLK has 4 seats, C has 5 seats -> C is more practical
CLK has only 2 doors , C has 4 -> C is more practical
CLK is 20% more expensive than the C -> C is a better buy and no less in performance and quality as they are both designed from same chasis
CLK list of optional equipment are more -> so end up CLK is MORE expensive
CLK resale value gets heavier hit.
There are more parts from tuners for C than CLK because less people have CLK -> the fun of mod goes to C.
(This is my another worry that the parts for E92 mod could be more expensive if they can not be shared with the E90)

One thing I havent seen discussed since the release of the E92 photos? It looks like we Americans are going to be getting the clear lenses on the front headlight assembly. Why do I say that? Look at the picture below? What do you see on the side just in front of the front tire? I see a orange reflector (a la Z4).

I've noticed that most current E46 owners (myself included) are more drawn to the E92. Most current E90 owners prefer, well, the E90. I do hope that's not a case of subconsciously justifying one's purchase.

They're fairly similar designs, overall. The belt line crease is similar, the side profile, the angular lines. Saying that the E92 is "ugly" is just as absurd as claiming that the E92 makes the E90 look "dated." You really can't insult one design without indirectly insulting the other.

I still think bimmer lovers still have not mentally accepted BMW's new coupe designed concept. Similar to C-class and CLK-class; E92 is the not same class as E90, of course they should look different! For 'outside' people who are not familiar with bimmer details, the one looks 'dated' is the E92 e.g. its tail lamp looks like the E46 's reversed, ot it looks like the old W210 E-Class's. Having said that, I am impressed with E92 style and will confirm my view only when I can see the real thing. After all, the commericial photos were always shot with an angle that makes the car look longer and bigger. It is a bit early to say E92 look like the big brother 6-series.

It seems no one can tell me whether the E90 hood and E92's are swappable ? That is my next mod if it does.

I think most everyone thinks the e90 looks better from the side and rear than the e92, so no I certainly don't think the e90 looks dated. Kind of silly topic really.

The e92 coupe ( prev 4 series) is an amalgamation of current designs- front grille-e60, head lamps-modified e90, rear light cluster- facelift 7 series. it is certainly less boxy. front grille design for e92 looks older than e90. overall, e92 coupe certainly looks more classy and upmarket than e90. but i still think the design is slightly less masculine than the e90. any comments?

I promise I am not trying to justify my purchase. My purchases generally do not last longer than 6 months...lol. I find I am a current e90 owner who does not prefer the e90 but the e46 M3.

The more I think about it I cannot competely state I prefer one series over the other. I like a specific package not just the series. For instance in the e46 I ONLY truly like an M3. The 330Ci looks soft. In the e90 I ONLY truly like the 330 with sport suspension and the OEM 18s the sport package comes with. Take those specific wheels off the 330 and the car loses the appeal.

So in a way you are quite right about how certain comments insult the e90 as well. My car would be "ugly" if I was to swap the wheels to a different BMW wheel. I am hoping BMW brings a different package to the market with a great wheel design that ties everything together and makes you forget how bad the rear trunk design is.

You know, in some of your older posts, you had me convinced that a coupe is basically more money for less (2 doors). But after seeing the E92, I think I've gone back to my original preference for a coupe, and it appears that you yourself are re-considering

Why there are more C-class than CLK-class as the CLK looks more fashionable ? The extra $$$ is the answer.
Not many would pay 20% more for a different styling (20% can do a very decent mod of the E90) , this is why BMW pushes the 300hp first. Because BMW knows people will not pay more for a E92 if it has same power as 330i. So they detuned the 3 litre of E92 to 230hp to offer a cheaper version, so as it will not compete with 260hp 330i Sedan. No matter what the current owners think, the 335i Coupe will kill CLK350, CLK500, A4 3.2 ...etc incl. convertibles verisons.
Just some thoughts.

so is it confirmed that e92 is a strict 4 seater? seems stupid as a marketing ploy. more attractive as a 5 seater to people with families and kids.

comparison photos-I think we are forgetting that these E92 photos are "official" photos. This is the absolute best the car is going to look. Look how great the E90 looks on the website. I think we've just become desensitized to the look of the E90 because its been out for so long and most of us have it. But being impartial and looking at both "official" pics both cars look great i thnik. From the front pics here its hard to distinguish them from far away .
