Ya know I think I need help. I would rather sit here and watch you drive around your car, then watch TV. If my car does not get here soon I'm going to pop. lol

always glad to see videos! i would love to see how the screen goes up and down. is there a button you can just press to lower it?

if you do lower, does audio stop? can you still skip tracks?

is not having split screen annoying?

sorry for rapid fire, a video response would be great

Ordered my 135i on 4/7/08 (took delivery 5/15/08):

Hows that break-in period going?

Note to self: Do not consider purchasing used vehicles from people that self document abusing their car during the break in period with videos on youtube.

I'll change the oil at 1k and try to keep it under 6k rpms until then. BMW lost credibility with me when they went with 15k oil changes at the same time they started the free maintenance program. I'll drive it pretty hard but not go to redline until I change the oil at 1k, then change it every 5k. This is my personal opinion.. not that I'm trying to talk anyone else into doing the same.

I'll do a video but my nikon 8700 camera only does 30sec videos at a time for some reason. The nav screen motors up and down with the key but I'm not sure if you can lower it while driving (haven't read the manual yet). THe nice thing is the new nav shortcut buttons down by the radio. You can set a certain radio station or nav screen destination and program it to one of those buttons. The other very surprising thing is when your finger gets close to one of those buttons, tabs show up at the bottom of the nav screen to show you what's programmed on it, and they look sort of like named tabs in excel. I am VERY glad I added the NAV (but not mainly for the nav function)!

Yea, maybe you should buy one from someone that didn't change the oil until 15k, even though it was driven hard from 1k-15k.

Cool vids, but how did you take them? I see a hand on the wheel, and another must be shifting. You have a friend holding a camera in front of your chest?

IIRC, you can close the screen via a command nestled deep in iDrive, or you can program one of the steering wheel buttons to open/close the screen.

Fixed.

oh take the stick out of your @SS, im pretty sure you put the gas pedal to the floor a coupe of times too, that engine is so strong you could WOT it all day and nothing would happen so stop telling everyone that he is abusing his car cuz he isnt if you notice in the videos he doesnt even hit redline. so stop being an uptight jerk.
I LOVED THE VIDEOS!

You know what's funny.. I was going to really baby it and was trying to figure out how to restrain myself to drive it as such. Just before I left the house my father called. He said he took his 425hp charger SRT directly from the dealer lot to the 1/4 mile when it was brand new. He said, "If it's going to break I'd rather know right up front." Hehe.. we agreed that as long as the oil is changed around 1k miles it's not bad to run it up to 6k rpms. I'm a mechanical engineer but each person should do whatever they're comfortable with.

I do not agree with demo cars being driven hard during break in but mainly because they don't allow the coolant OR oil to get up to temp before nailing it. I would bet 90% of miles on a demo are driven like that.
