Hunh...? (again)

Dude, wtf are you talking about. The N54 is a biturbo engine, not a twin-turbo..! Has nothing to do with "American".

Yeah. A website. BMW NA's website. In fact, here's another...

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...ol_engine.html

That's BMW's worldwide site...

What a worthless den's of inaccuracy.

Think there might be a reason they are making a concerted effort to not call it a Bi-Turbo? Think it might be b/c their two main rivalsalready use that name? Hmm? You can call it a Bi-Turbo all you want b/c of the arrangement of the turbos. I prefer to use the terminology that BMW is choosing to use for the engine. Twin.

You can make a case for calling it either. biturbo is often used to describe a parallel turbo system, but if BMW wants to call it a twin turbo, good for them.

I'm not the one who came on here calling out others for calling it a biturbo, which most certainly IS NOT an incorrect label, regardless of what BMW decrees.

remember?

call it what you want, but let others do the same please.

I would think 'twin' would be a little more descriptive.. to me it suggests a symmetrical parallel setup(even though thats not always the case). All 'bi' tells me is that its Euro..

But really does it matter?
When you pull up to a gas station for the first time and a guy yells "WOAH is that the twin turbo?!" are you going to say "No actually its Bi-"

To me it just sounds like your car has a sexual preference..

Bi-Turbo = Parallel Twin Turbo. These are used interchangably. They each power different banks of cylinders. The 135i, 335i, and 535i are of this type.

Sequential twin turbo is totally different, where they are in the same plumbing, one after the other.

So, you all are right, in a sense.

Thank you. Being that BMW chooses to call it a Twin, I'll stick with that.

Turbo badges are RICEY. Every ricer wtih a turbo puts them on the car. The only cars that should have "turbo" badge are the ones that come wtih it like the porsche turbo!!

in my experiance a bi Turbo is like what the RX7 had with 2 turbos of differant size in series.

anyway I really like the paint scheme on the Tii concept car and would seriously consider doing a replica of that scheme on my car.

The 135i badge would have to go.

No badges for me I like the shaved look on BMW, you can't tell what series number it is. Like to keep ppl in mystery.
