AFE dual filter cold air intake....Yes or No?
I was considering purchasing this for my 2009 135i. I believe it is the AFE stage 1 dual filter cold air intake with the oiled blue filters and dual front scoops. Does anyone have any thoughts on this particular intake or should I be looking at another brand? Kind of wanted to stay within the $400 to $500 range.

use the search button buddy, you will find lots of talk about this subject. I dont think it is worth the price and DO NOT believe BS dyno reports about intake systems. No disrespect to Jlevi - great group of folks to purchase products from.

No worries. These dyno charts are all we have to go off of. I wish we had a dyno that we could use for all of the cars we have funning aFe intakes. I get a lot of positive feedback from customers. I think this is a great intake system IMO.

BMS DCI $115 (got mine for $90 new) versus aFe $450 average..same performance and sound if not more so with the BMS since there is less piping and more direct airflow (heatshield does near to nothing).
So yea, if you wanna blow ur money go right ahead but id rather you just buy a bms intake and paypal me the extra $300 in that case. |

Thanks for the info, looks like I wont be spending $400.00 for the AFE DCI. I might just buy a drop in reusable oiled filter and keep the stock air box. Don't need any problems with heat soak.

I'll stick with the AFE pro R blue oiled drop in and keep the stock air box. This set up also comes with dual front scoops that are mounted behind the kidney grills to force more air into the box.

I thought I have read good things about the AFE sealed stage 2 intake?
http://www.**********s.com/aFe-Stage-2-N54-Sealed-Air-Intake-System-135i-335i-335i-Z4-35i.htm I like the n55 one from AFE tho, seems bigger sealed box, so it holds more air. Not sure if that makes any sense. Kcc

Fools garden..
Why the heck ppl continue reading reviews and hypes from the distributors sites. Those are makebelieve gains. Forget about DCI's. But if you want to make jLevi (great fellas imo) happy, order tons of carbon fibre and drop in filter from 'em.. Not to ferget that aR DP, that' where the sound and power comes out ffs..

Do the air scopes require any drilling? Looking for a clean bolt on application.

I dont think ive seen a set of scoops that just "pop in" yet, and if there is, theyre probably either cheap shit or wont be very durable. |

The Afe scoops are drop ins that require no drilling. I think they are aluminum with heat treated coating(I think). I have a set in the car. They work as advertised and took me about 20 minutes of calmly screwing and unscrewing the intake track at the front.
Thez, Do you have a pic on how the RPI's look installed. I've never seen them before.
