The LUX are amazing during dusk/night!! Take my word for it as I have tried many setups. The LUX provide a more uniform light between the inner and outer rings. I'm actually waiting to try the ebay 9W led kit that was posted above and see how they compare to the LUX just for the heck of it, but as of right now, the LUX wins hands down compared to every other brand I have tried. A couple of friends have the Alpine kit and the inner rings are way to bright for my taste, especially from a distance, but thats my opinion of coarse.

Seriously, I may even order it myself.. I mean that's the typical cost of replacement bulbs for the normal AE's!

I'm interested in the ebay ones that DTNJNQ posted above. Is that what you guys are going to try?
Unlike most angel eye buyers I don't care about daylight brightness and I'm not trying to re-create the new 3er and 5er angel eyes (although they do look awesome in the day). Honestly the yellow inner ring bugs me when I'm stuck in night traffic and I see my headlights reflected in the car in front of me. I would just like that ring to be white at night. But I'm loathe to mess with the headlights and mount external ballast, etc. Ultimately it's not a huge deal, but if these are simple plug and play bulbs, for the cost I might try them too. DTNJNQ, you steered me right with the louiellp fake CF rear diffuser (I love it), so if you're happy with these bulbs, maybe I should give them a shot. You said a different seller, but how can you tell they are the exact same as you have? (I don't see a brand or model number) |

I just received the 9w ebay led kit and installed them. I'm not going into a full review on these as I don't see that this kit deserves it. I'm also not going to post a comparison of the LUX and these"9W" leds because a camera without the correct settings and quality will not show the true output. I will provide pictures of the "9W" led kit to show you I actually bought them and that I'm not being biased.
Long story short, these LED's don't compare to the LUX at all!!! They look ok during dusk/dark, but they come nowhere close to the light output in all 4 rings as the LUX.You can install them and see yourselves and you may like them if you never tried the LUX, but I personally wouldn't waste my time and money on them. Not trying to say that DTNJNQ is wrong and all, but these just don't compare to the LUX and you can tell they are made cheap. You really do get what you pay for guys, take my word for it!

I wonder how these would stack up...they seem to be a different design from all the $30-40 kits on ebay...

Yeah, I've never compared them with the LUX however my point is that for a fraction of the price of the LUX these do a good job. I just can't justify $250 on some bulb just to get a slightly better result during the day. Maybe if I compared them side by side with the LUX I would change my mind.

i may try out the 9w leds. i have gp thunders and they are not that bright. I would go lux if they were closer to 100-150. Not saything they are not worth the asking price. but a bit out of my budget, would rather spend on other parts.

I don't think you'll be happy with the 9w then if you don't like the gp thunders. The led has a more white blue color, but they aren't as bright as even the gp thunders

They are definitely a lot brighter than the GP Thunders. GP Thunders are not as bright as the OEM and I was very disappointed with GP Thunders.

I bought this from ebay after I read this thread. Honestly, if you compare this to GP, I would say it is brighter than GP and actually I was very surprised when I compare it with GP in my garage , but in day time the GP is more obvious because it is a bit yellowish. I don't think we should compare this to LUX because of the price mark. But if you are thinking of buying a GP which cost ~$30, why not go for this LED with similar price range?

Is there an AE light out there that is similar to the new BMW setup? It's almost white/purple tone.

Alpine HIDs are probably the closest to the new BMWs out there, though they have problems as well. Version 2 was infamous for bad reliability, but so far there have been no complains as far as I know with Version 3 (which is now out) The install is much more complicated and requires you hooking up the lights to one of the battery ports in the engine bay, as well as either making a hole in your headlight caps or buying pre-drilled caps from Alex@Alpine. Also, the inner ring is brighter than the outside ring because they are SO bright, the light doesn't diffuse. I don't think they're too bright, but are brighter than LUX, and they are the closest match to the new BMW angel ayes. They're also available in almost any color temperature, so.. 3000K is yellow, 4300K is stock color, 6000K is pure white, 8000K is white with a hint of blue, 10000K is blueish, 12000K is purple. Lux is great and gives more even light distribution between rings, is more expensive, and less annoying to install; Alpine is also great, comes in a variety of colors, is much more visible during the day even in direct sunlight, is closer to the new BMW lights, is more annoying to install, and is less expensive... Those are pretty much the two "best" angel eye options other than completely replacing the rings or the whole headlight enclosures for lots of $$$.
