Vents blow hot air after starting up...
I have a new 128i, and after it's been running and turn off the engine, the a/c vents blow hot air when starting back up. It doesn't turn to outside temperature for about 5 minutes. It's as if the hot engine compartment heats up the duct work, and fresh air flow will eventually cool it down.
I can turn the a/c on for a while to cool the air down, then turn the a/c off. But I shouldn't have to do this just to get fresh outside air everytime. Is this typical? |

If the ambient temp was warm when the car was parked, then naturally the initial (stale) air will also be warm. You might try turning the climate control off (fan set to zero) when shutting the car down and driving with the windows down for a few minutes when restarting to clear out the old air.

The outside air temp is cool, so when you start up, you would expect the vents to blow cool outside air. But it doesn't, it blows warm air until something in the system is cooled down by the outside air, and then it blows cool air.
