Cobb and dp fix?
Hey all,
I am thinking about running a Cobb tune. I am wondering how codes thrown by a dp are handled/cleared. I know with a jb4 you can set it to clear codes. What about with a flash tune? Thanks. |

From my understanding, the Cobb AP Stage 2 doesn't allow the car's emissions system to go into full ready mode. I'm not an engineer, so don't quote me. Just my loose understanding.
I will say that I went ahead and installed the BMS DPfix for those times that I need to take the stage 2 off the car. |

So it is handled inherently by the tune/map. Good to know.
I wonder what this means then when getting a protune. Does the tuner have to do something special to make use of this 'fix'? |

my understanding is that the Cobb S2 auto clears codes, where the BMS Dp fix actually tricks the system. Cobb throws codes then erases, BMS Dp fix tricks the system and throws no codes.

Actually, it's the opposite. Cobb disables the DTC from occuring.

Of coarse, you can also disable the codes yourself in ATR.(see attachment)

Does JB4 give a ready state without the DPfix?

The JB4 just clears the CEL whenever it's triggered. Which in turn resets OBD readyness cycles. Meaning, you can't pass an OBD2 emissions test.
With the DPfix in place the DME will not throw cat ineffeciency codes. You should pass an OBD2 plugin in test but NOT a sniffer test. Not sure if you were even asking about emissions testing, just throwing that out there.

Thanks you guys. I was debating if I should buy another Cobb down the road or if the JB4 would be enough to pass in California.

Correct about the DPfix. However, you should be able to pass with the tune installed as long as it's in bypass mode(stage 0 for cobb) and has had enough time to complete the readyness checks.

Out of curiosity, where do you have the BMS dipfix dial set? I have one waiting to go in the car when my DP's show up, but have been reading some threads on other forums of people having some serious issues getting the DPfix set just right so it wont throw codes.

When I followed the instructions from BMS I would get an intermittent fuel mixture code, but setting the dial in the middle (6 'o clock, as it arrives from BMS) actually resulted in zero codes of any kind. I would start there.

I'm kind of confused. Will the DP fix affect the tune if I leave it in (connected)? Running custom stage 2 tune at the moment.
Thanks!
