Seat Question

I have the sport seats non power with the inflatible bolsters and noticed that the bolsters eventually deflate. Are they supposed to stay inflated or am I supposed to adjust them every time I drive.

They probably lose air so you'll need to re-inflate them

They don't inflate and deflate but they move, electrically. There is a little rocker switch on the outside of the seat near the front. If you want them tighter to your body, rock the switch the appropriate direction. I have manual sports seats in my 2009 and this is how they work. If you don't hit the rocker, they stay in the same position.

The back support feels like it inflates but I agree that the side bolsters seem to move in/out electronically. Either way, none of my seat positions move once I set the position (I've got powered sport seats).

I pretty sure the lumbar support, which may be inflatable, I don't know, only comes with the power seat.

I'm fairly certain that the side supports are non electric and hence why there is some movement (loss of support) over time. I know when i go to release the amount of side support i can hear the rush of air exiting what i presume is a vent.

Perhaps different spec seats to you guys over in the US?

Mine stay if we are talking about side bolsters. I never knew this, but the M5 side bolster move WITH you when the car corners. It's freaking awesome!

I hear the air release if I rock the button to the release positiaon. I'm wondering if my seat is not working correctly now. If I set it to be tight on my way to work 10hr day then get back in the car it is pretty much back to no inflation. Maybe someone try setting it too tight right before they go in for the night and see in the morning if it has lost some air.

I'm sure mine never loses air. The wife closes it all the way in, and it never moves. I would take it in. it's probably just a seal.

Jim is right. On my 2012 manual sport seats, just press the side buttons and it will inflate or deflate in a second.

I've noticed this as well, especially with the lumbar support, which deflates overnight.
Not noticed the side bolsters deflating quite as much...?

Have you asked the dealer to fix it yet? I'm curious when I bring it up what they will say.

Air sounds could be air moving out of a cushion, too.

Lumbar = air

Side bolster = electric

Lumbar loses air with time. Bolster positions neve change.

I'm pretty sure mine are air and I have a 10 model. Maybe the earlier cars had different seats.

You are confusing lumbar support with side bolsters. Side bolsters with air would never work.
