help coilover question
Hello I would greatly appreciate if someone with knowledge could help me out.
I installed in my car a set of ohlins r&t (to the 1m specs listed on the instructions). As well as changed the wheels to some bbs fi with stud set and are running MPSS 255/35/19 front and 275/35/19 at the back. Now comes the question, I have noticed that during high speed sweeping corners the car behaves weirdly. I don’t know how to correctly describe it but it feels as if it bites the corner and then let’s go repeatedly during the corner. I had the coilover installation checked and they confirmed they were fine. Regards and thank you Diego |

Do you feel this in the front or the rear?
I second the alignment question. I drove on mine for a couple weeks before getting an alignment to make sure everything was tight, didn't want to have to change anything after the alignment. The rear danced around a lot, especially with an irregular road surface. I had a lot of toe out and a rightward thrust angle, and all the sloppiness went away with proper alignment. I hope you aren't hitting bump stops.... how low did you go? |

Thanks for the replies. I lowered the car to the settings on the manual for the 1m, I didn't go any lower.
I'm taking the car tomorrow to a shop to have it raised and check if there are any tire marks on the coils or the bump stops. I did the alignment check and it is ok, the sudden bite feel is definetly on the front. I'll keep you posted tomorrow after the shop visit, again thank you for the replies |

Sounds like an alignment issue, but could be other things as well. Have your technician take a good look at it

Sorry for taking so long to reply but the first shop couldn't find anything wrong with the car, I took it to another shop to have it examined. They have just called me to tell me that the tire does not rub on the coilover, but they found that some of the suspension components were very loose . They tightened everything and did a new alignment and balancing and told me to test the car.
I will collect it tomorrow and let you know if the issue has been solved. |

Hi there, any updates to your coilover issue?
I've recently had Bilsteins PSS10 installed - car is lowered about 1.5inches and set to pretty stiff settings 8/10 front, 6/10 rear. I've experienced similar issues but i wonder if it has anything to do with the sway bar being excessively preloaded and whether theres a need to get adjustable end links to ensure correct geometry with the lowered setup. Would be great to hear from you or anyone else with similar experience ! |

The only way the bar would be preloaded is if you have different ride heights left to right.

Thanks for the quick reply !
Pretty sure the ride height is equal on both sides ! I came across the vendor post by HP on adjustable sway endlinks - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...swayer+preload and thats how i started looking into this. Similar to TS, i'm also on BBS FI and MPSS 255 front and 275 rear.. Have previously owned cooper s , E90 320 and they were lowered as well by about 1-2 inches .. never had to adjust the sway bar end links. I guess i should be looking elsewhere then instead of swaybars for now .. Regards ! Last edited by Ewok; 08-21-2017 at 02:16 PM.. Reason: To add more details |

Sorry haven't updated the thread. I have planned a drive this weekend and will update if the tightening of the suspension components solved the issue.
Unfortunately I haven't driven the car much as it's just gotten a new companion in the garage . Regards Diego |
