If you want to support the local industry then go with Southern, otherwise take whichever of the MANY vendors out on the net will give you the best deal.

I'm not too big a fan of Bilstein shocks, I personally prefer Koni. Bilstein coilovers however get some excellent reviews.

Funny how variation exist, as I cant say too much good about Koni, the Reds or Yellows. I had them in a car a while ago and they were so mediocre I was almost offended at how much the cost was versus the benefit. I ended up goign to a KYB Excel G (which by reputation is nowhere near as good) and it was so much tighter on the road.

The circlip for the lower spring seat actually ripped out of the groove on one of the rear shocks. Having said that, I had custom springs and when we looked into a little further the coil may have binded and loaded it up, still though, shouldnt have happened.

I've mentioned this before, but for the cost and pure comfort, and adjustability, I just cant fault these
http://www.apcoilovers.com/ap_coilov.../1_series.html

I had them in my Hsv Vxr, the kit arrived and didnt quite lower the rear enough. I had King Springs reset the rear springs and off I went, they rode almost standard, and it was low believe me, but they were superb!

Pic below, sorry bout the size

All personal preference I guess ...

Coilovers wise I'd be looking at KW, Bilstein or AST.

Agree, I actually went with the AP's as I was told by someone that has used both that they looked into it and they were made in the same factory, basically coming off the same production line

I did my own research and confirmed it too!

hey guys thanks for all your help so far! its made choosing quite tricky, i think i am going to probably go with the KW V2 set up.

I'm just waiting on confirmation on price from a shop here in brisbane he gave me their price spectrum $1759 - $2939 so i am assuming thats for V1 & V3 respectively and then $350 to fit.. which doesnt seem unreasonable (as much as i would love to do the install myself i am dead certain i would stuff it up)

Maybe if there are a couple of people wanting to get the same thing we could arrange a lower price? Let me know if you're interested...

I'll keep you all posted on how things turn out!

I'm hoping to have all this done before June 4 so i can have something to show off at a BIG cruise my mate is putting together (dont like my chances though)

A price around $1700 AUD seems fair. Here are some Emails when I was looking at getting V1's out of UK on the 31/10/2009.Be aware, this price in the email shown there is about 15% VAT on it as well, which we dont have to pay. So the excludign this VAT (as is the rule for International purchasers) the coilover unit alone (V1's) were about 590 GBP which is about $950, so it would have been about $1200 AUD to my door.

Hi Jamie,

A KW variant 1 kit shipped to Australia would be around 840.00 GBP. Lowers 30-60mm on the front and 20-45mm on the rear. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Dan
**The price quoted includes the shipping, the shipping was 145.00 GBP.

Yeah when I priced them locally out of Sydney at the time I was looking at over $2200 for V1's, so the ppl your dealing with seem to be quite good on price. If you had tools, it isnt a difficult job to fit them, however, for $350, again, this is pretty reasonable too, and the hassle is all theirs then.

You will most likely get ripped to the tune of $300-$400 if you choose the airport option. Some have managed to avoid those charges by getting them sent directly to your door.

purchase price before shipping "should" be less than $1k (was quoted $850) so i am lead to believe it will not attract said tariff's?

so confused

it it the various charges by the shipping agent such as dbschenker that kill, not the tarriff or GST as the goods are below 1k. some have got away with it, i got stung.
Do a search on importing wheels and you will find the thread on the subject.
