Yeah, and also a time position number when seeking through a song would be nice. Basically any extra info besides just the name of the track...

Sooo...search reveals my first flaw with this car. I can't believe the radio doesn't display volume level.

What would you do with that information? Let's say you were at volumn level 6 - and found it too loud - would you change the volumn level to 5? Why does it matter if it is a 6 or 5 or 7? That is what ears are for. This is an example of a non essential piece of distracting information that is not needed in the cockpit of a car.

I would like to know at what level I'm at relative to maximum. If I'm going to put in a PDX5 amp powering the stock speakers and some SWS8s I don't want to crank it up too high to a level I'd have to worry about the stock speakers blowing. Plus with any seutp

How is this "distracting" information? I just think it's such a basic thing that every other car I've ever driven has had. So a volume indicator is distracting but having an idrive with everything it does isn't?

Obviously there's nothing I can do, I just thought it was so strange that this car doesn't have a volume level indicator.

OK - no offense intended. It seems as though you would have a valid reason for it. I don't have iDrive, either. Or a TV while driving. Good luck on your stereo upgrade!

As posted in the other thread also:

I think you can look up the sound level in the radio's secret menu.

1. turn on the radio
2. press button "m" or "tp" for at least 8 sec.
3. "+" and "-" to navigate through the menu (there must be a submenu "volume" or something like that, then use the volume-knob to see how high the level goes)
4. turn off radio and on again

cheers flo
