Dealership Tint

I really need tint on my car bad, and I don't know of any trustworthy shops in my area.

BMW quoted me 250$ 15% all around and 30% on the front. My question is, will that be dark enough for me? I don't want people to see in easily during the day and pretty much not at all during the night. Anyone else get their car tinted at bmw?

$250 for tint all around is a decent price so long as it's ceramic. If you have the navigation system you'll want ceramic tint.

Ask around if the dealer's installed does good work, otherwise go to someone independent with a good reputation. Yelp is a pretty good resource for this.

I've got 25% all around and it's plenty dark for me. Don't differ your tint between side windows and back too much, it looks odd if you do.

I agree 100%. I would rather not have my windows tinted at all than have my driver /passenger windows different than the rear/quarters. In my opinion a clean 30% all around is the way to go.

I am in the same situation as you here in Tampa/St. Pete. I have stopped by a couple of shops around here but never got a good vibe when I was there. I also had a couple of phone calls that were never returned so those shops are out. Getting your tint done should be pretty straight forward but I have seen enough hack jobs and mucked up interiors to be a little paranoid. Post your results and what type of tint you get at the dealership. BTW if you are military, Reeves and Bert Smith should both give you a good discount if you ask for it.

Amazing how much tint can cost in different areas. I paid $85 for the whole car and it is flawless.

Yeah they said 15% all around and 30% just on the front windshield so it won't look off..

Ill let you know how it goes if I pull the trigger, let me know if you find any reputable shops. Maybe they will give us a discount if we both bring our cars in :?

I had the dealer do it here in KC for $250.00. They did a great job, and I got a loaner for the day while they did it.

I've had some crap jobs before, so I don't mind spending the extra money for a quality job (and the convenience of a loaner is a nice perk). I'd go with the dealership again without a second thought.

I live where it its really sunny. Never have I tinted my car windows. If someone can see in, so what. All they are going to see is a man with white hair, and not much hair at that.

I'm still dragging my feet hard because I hate trusting my car with anyone Ive never done work with before. Ceramic is the best tint out now? I'm going to call a few shops today.

I would personally not consider anything darker than 50% on the front windshield. I did 20% on the sides and a 15% rear with nothing on the windshield and I'm happy. I would go with Llumar (standard) or Huper Optik (ceramic).

I got 3M tints with lifetime warranty for like 175 or so. 20% all the way around in coral gables. I know thats far for you but if you ever drive down... they do a great job.

I lived in FL and got 20% all around (nothing on windshield) and it's very nice while not being hard to see out of at night. I think 20% all around is the best.

All "tints" are not equal.

You can get a Cavalier for half the cost of a 1er, but did you? Why not?
I guess your right. My tint will last to about the same time I last with cars before trading in.

I just got 15% all around nothing on the windshield. Only place here that wasnt going to charge me 300 Euros was another GI a cpl hours away... he did a horrible job. Gaps galore top of passenger window sloping to the front. Gap all the way down the rear side of the drivers window.... Unsealable bubble along the bottom drivers side window... Shit job that he rushed through, with good tint though. NEVER take your car to someone you havent seen his work before, id have rather paid 300 Euro and taken my car into a shop, at least that way I could get money back of have them fix the mistakes.
