What kind of tape for iCarbon Mirror Overlays?

Looking to find out what specific type of tape goes behind the overlays to put on the mirrors? And what is the best method for applying the tape? I don't have any directions and want to know the best spots for adhesion.

Brand name would be good!

UPDATE:

For those interested... Following up on this project. I went with 1speedbike's preference and bought the 3M trim adhesive because I did not want the space problem with the CF Overlay fitments that people have been having with the 3rd party products.

I used CF Overlays from iCarbon. Below I have a picture of the 3M Trim Adhesive that I used plus some pics of after and the fitments. I put the glue on the inside of the CF overlays not directly on the mirrors. After I fitted them properly I used duct tape and wrapped them tight around for around 4-5 hours to let the glue set.

Enjoy! I took lots of pics for those people that like pictures!

(however, I used 3m trim adhesive so that there would be no gap between the cap and the mirror itself. though this makes it a giant pain in the ass to get off again..)

I probably won't have to worry about getting it off anytime soon so the "trim adhesive" would be best. (don't want a gap)... could you provide a link to that?

Found this....

I am confused on which one to get... there are 3 products help me decide!

http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/e...er/output_html

I think the one that I will need is the ST1200 but not 100% sure.

ohh, I've purchased that tape before, but I'm concerned if that tape is too thick. Is that what you used?

the thickness of that tape can cause the mirrors to be less flush than it already is

I believe the vinyl tape is the best bet or the automotive one on the site... not sure how much that costs...

Let me know how you line it and if thickness is an issue with specific type of tape.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... turns out the tape is pretty thick, even though i stretched it a bit while applying it to the caps. The off fitment also has to do with the mirror caps themselves, which i've emailed icarbon about but have yet to get a response.

on to some pictures

here's the tape i used that i believe e90sexion was talking about

I cut the tape into fourths and lined them on the caps

And finally just test fitting them gave me this result

If you test fit the caps without any tape and it sits perfectly flush, applying this tape with the method i mentioned earlier should give you a good result. The tape was only 5 bucks and it told like 15 mins to apply it, so its worth a shot.
