if it is polyurethane youre fine. really you can paint about anything anyway. i would suspect the dealership would offer you less than the bargain of the century to have them paint it. do you have to get bmw paint from bmw?

Looks okay on white. Stock all the way on black or sapphire cars though...a classy bit of contrast IMO.

I'm not liking the shadowline grill. The black on black makes it look cheap for some reason. (IMHO) Someone mentioned that there two pieces, the grill itself and the trim. Has anyone tried the black trim on the chrome grill? Probably wouldn't look good, but who knows maybe it will provide that crucial bit of contrast that's needed.

Is the grill part the same on both? (i.e. black) Or is it chrome on the original one?

The stock grill on the car is chrome. The one i have is the shadowline grill. its black on both pieces. basically a black out grill. I hate chrome so thats why I got this right away. If you want any diff pics or me to zoom in on anything let me know

Personally I don't like the all black grill. But the black center with a white border like above looks great with Alpine. If I was to do a grill MOD, this is what I would do. Alpine is #1. IMO.

Thats a good idea. Since the grills are two pieces maybe you can swap the black middle part of the shadowline grill with the stock chrome grill. Before I attempt to paint my black grill Ill wait till my car comes in and switch the grills up. Ill end up painting it anyway but it would be cool to take pics of all different combos before i do.

Thanks for the idea!

I picked up my car yesterday and did this mod today myself with a rattle can.

Removes, sand, paint, install. 30 mins of work and some stuff I had in the garage, total cost $0.
