Man, I've parked in parking garages before but....I'm in a new one now on a daily basis, and I swear my car sounds louder than it ever has when I first start up. What a rumble. I feel like those first 10 seconds or so of cold startup at the end of the day take forever (as I debate whether to slink down in my seat so I'm not identified by anyone as a boy racer)....and then it drops to a "reasonable" sound level as I look forward to listening to it all the way down and out of the garage. Woo!

I can't imagine the M2 sounding better than this. Really? AGAV13

Out of necessity I back into our garage at home and I'm convinced all of our immediate neighbors hate me when I go to work at 6:50 AM every morning. Backing in makes it that much louder.

I back into my garage space everyday and love the sound on start up as well. It's hard to explain the sound differences in words as I don't know how to properly explain the differences. The best I can explain the M2 exhaust to our 135is is when you cold start backed into a garage space and right as the rev range drops drops to normal ranges is what the car sounds like all the time. It louder, deeper and more pronounced. If our cars is a 7 on the "deep" scale the M2 is an 8.5. I hope that makes some sense.

Add a tune, and the N55 really wakes up!

Somewhat off topic, but Jalopnik has an interesting article advocating the Dinan tuned m235i over the M2. Any thoughts on this? I know that the Dinan tuned car still gets the same 4 year warranty, but I do wonder what the long-term effect is on the vehicle. Does it increase wear and tear post warranty period? thx!

I believe Dinan is conservative with their tunes which helps with the reliability. At the end of the day, I think wear and tear is all about how you drive and maintain the car.

Dinan M235 v M2
I think price-wise it might be about the same. I didn't look too much into it. At the end of the day, they both depreciate. You might be better off with the stock M2 since bolt-ons will limit your target audience when it is time to sell the vehicle.

Just my 2 cents...
I still prefer my slightly modded 135is. =)

The Dinan 235 actually costs more than an M2, and you won't ever get the value back from the cost of the mods. The M2 will always be an M2, but when you go to trade in or sell the dinan 235 a few years down the road it's just another used 235 with mods, nice as the mods may be.

Dinan is a great company and all, but I'd rather have a real ///M car than a tuned M235i. Hell, I don't even like the M235i, and I kinda do like the M2.

There are a lot of 'regular' tuned BMWs out there, but it seems to me that an M car is usually the superior choice. The complete package. Besides, you can always tune the M car, which will make one hell of a car!

I would absolutely be satisfied with a Dinan S3 M235i. The arguments made by the article are valid, but deciding between the two really boils down to the goals and preferences of the individual. For me, I value the engineering aspect of the comparison far more than pure HP numbers. The comment below posted on the article makes some good points, especially considering the engine bits that BMW carried over to the M2 N55 from the M3/M4:

"though the warranty is very generous on the Dinan, it’s by no means a guarantee that Dinan has done anywhere near the durability testing that BMW did on the M2 engine. To a blogger, these upgrades are just “a chip” or “more boost”, but in the engineering world the changes in peak cylinder pressure have substantial effects on the lifetime durability of the base engine and its components. Turn up the boost, and suddenly wrist pins aren’t looking so hot - do you increase diameter? How about change the surface hardness? Increasing diameter increases mass and takes from your engine balance budget - is it worth it? To find out, you model the system, but did you account for everything? So you test it and so on. Dinan apparently does a good bit of engine testing, but durability testing that ensures success costs a great bit more than I imagine Dinan has in the bank. I’d buy the M2 knowing that I got a fully developed product without compromise."

X-Post from Cosmetics section

Hey Gents! Thought I'd post this in here as well. Just got my new wheel in from Ledermanz this week and finally got it on tonight. I couldn't be any happier with the outcome. Looks amazing in person. Also bought a CF interior trim kit off a fellow member on here not too long ago. Really loving how the CF goes with the coral red. Gonna order some CF pedals and paddle shifters to complete the look. Also gonna do the arm rest, shifter, and gauge hood in matching alcantara to finish it all up. Here's a couple crap cell phone pics for now. I'll try to get some good ones during the daytime with a better camera later. Hope you guys enjoy!

Bump...

...took the 135is to Pocono for a track event last Friday. Mostly wet lines due to rain but turned out to be a very fun day. Learned a lot. Topped at 120mph compared to 140mph in the back straight of the double infield configuration.

I know we're losing members and probably will lose a few more in the coming months, and since nobody seems to post pretty pics anymore, I thought I'd post a couple of mine today as she enters year 4 looking goooooood.
