DCT: D or S? Sport or No?
Post what mode you usually use:
D D+Sport S S+Sport

I've been cruising around mostly in D mode so far, trying to get a good feel for what it's doing before I spend time in the other modes. I thought I might try S next, and use that for a while, and then try S+Sport. I wonder if D+Sport is really all that useful.
One thing I've noticed is that when you floor it in D mode it seems to do the normal "automatic" shifting pattern -- taking it to redline before shifting. S mode with Sport (which I've only used briefly) seems to zip through the gears very rapidly, perhaps holding the tachometer in a specific rev range. It's very odd hearing the car rapidly zip through gears like that -- something you'd never do in a manual OR hear in a normal automatic. Kinda freaky.

I normally use D+Sport with DSC off. I find I get better throttle response than without Sport - it gets rid of most of the artificial lag that the system induces in an attempt to create a "smooth" ride..

I may try that. There does seem to be a lot of throttle lag in D mode. Like they went overboard trying to make it feel like a Cadillac. (lol)
Why do you turn off stability control?

It seems overactive to me. If I drop my foot it will kill the throttle at the smallest sign of rear wheel slip. With it turned off, but DTC still on, I get just the right amount of back end "looseness" for a bit of spirited street driving. More importantly, if I put my foot down in an emergency to get out of the way of another car I know that it's not gonna kill the power and just sit there like a lump... |

I use either straight D mode, or S + Sport with manual
S without sport seems useless, and D with sport some find it useful, although if I'm driving spirited enough that I notice the extra throttle response of sport mode, I'm going to be in M mode anyway. |

DCT and M-Mode are mutually exclusive unless you have an M3/M5 etc... The 135 doesn't have M-Mode and the 1M doesn't have DCT...
I assume you mean manual? I still find D+Sport useful in traffic as I get improved throttle response without it holding on to 2ng gear at 60Km/Hr... |

Played around with D+Sport today and I noticed that it doesn't want to settle into 7th gear as quickly -- it tends to stay in 6th longer. I had to pretty much put the cruise control on for it to settle into 7th. I guess it's trying to stay ready for rapid acceleration.
Played around with S+Sport a bit as well, and I noticed it staying in an even lower gear setting, like holding in 5th while I was on the freeway on-ramp (D would have been in 7th).

When I'm just cruising around town, I leave it in D. It shifts much earlier than I would and this gives me the best fuel mileage (unconfirmed, correct me if I'm wrong).
I'll hit the sport button occasionally if i want to eliminate the lag in the throttle, although it doesnt normally bother me. Throttle feels real good when hit the button As far as S or M, generally I utilize this when doing some performance driving. I use M when on more windy roads where i'll be shifting in and out of turns. Only ever really used S when I punch it on straightaways. always have the sport mode on when I'm driving like this. I'm sure I've currently got less experience than everyone else who's commented so far given that I've had my car for just 4 days but today I found it quite acceptable to potter around town in D mode (dropping kids at school) and then use the paddles to click down a cog (or two... or three) when negotiating a turn or requiring a bit of extra urgency. This seems like a great combination for morning traffic.

I was trying this again today and I was quite surprised how quickly it went back to "D" mode - pretty well straight after negotiating the corner. But I did notice that the "D" mode on it's own without sport button still exhibited very soft throttle response even though I had changed down manually.
