Nice!!!! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing your progress!

Is that on a Mustang Dyno? The numbers definitely seem lower than those optimistic dynojets posted earlier.

These numbers are more in line with what I would expect, but its the delta thats really gonna matter. How much more can be squeezed out of a stock car? Whats the ETA on the post tune numbers?

Is the scale for torque and hp interchangeable? In other words, am I correct peak rear wheel hp is about 300 bhp?

Yea, I definitely agree with you on what to expect on a stock car. I'm just curious as to what dyno it is.

Yup, it looks to be about 300whp. Which is a lot of power!

Big difference between these results and the Inside Line results of 331 & 362.

Looks to be a mustang dyno which tend to be heart breakers.

Numbers looks good (needs improvement) especially for a lighter car like this one.

What were the weather conditions?

you know.. that's odd.. From the photo it does look to be a mustang dyno. but in the past they have always had a Dynojet 248H.....

http://www.dynospotracing.com/index.html

but the photos show a 4 wheel dyno... and IIRC the Dynjoet 248s are only 2 wheel dynos...

A mustang dyno normally reads 10- 15% lower that a Dynojet... and I am pretty sure I actually was told that by DC.

If so... then that would put this at the same as inside line..

Just looked up a Mustang dyno manual and it does use Graph Viewer as opposed to a Dynojet which uses WinPep Software...

Yes, it is the delta that really matters. We are not here to play the numbers game.

We spent about 9 hours on the dyno today and will need a few more to finalize Stage1, please stay tuned...

Nice work.

I'm guessing that stage 1 should make another 50+hp based on some of the 135i stage 1 tunes that were out there.

It is a Mustang dyno. From GIAC's website:

GIACs development team employs proprietary GIAC software and a variety of debuggers, emulators and scopes to tackle the most complex tuning problems. Our dedicated research facility in Irvine, CA houses a 4WD Mustang Dynamometer and state of the art tools for developing and testing software. Expertise in software and circuit design, combined with an understanding of embedded technology, enable us to offer a broad range of tuning solutions.

I used to have a modified EVO VIII and it dyno'ed at 322 whp on a Mustang and 375 whp on a Dynojet.

Yup.. just confirmed it in the video . both via the software on the monitor and also you can see it on the device to the right of the machine.. Am I seeing that correctly... that they are currently at 323 hp and 379 ft-lbs as they are tuning ?

Thanks for the info on your Evo...in your case the Dynojet is actually 17% higher... I actually initially put 15% in my post... but then backed down to 10-15% just to ensure accuracy for the internet critics.

So even going with a conservative 15% added to the baseline 300 hp... that's 345hp on a Dynojet... and ABOVE the figures on the Inside Line car..

I'm curious about this as well. BMW took the N54 engine and already "tweaked" it and did a few other things to get their 335hp so, my question is, how much more "tweaking" can be done to an already tweaked motor? I can't imagine the gains being that dramatic?
10 maybe 20 hp tops?

Pretty dramatic.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374508

Some tunes add 70hp and TQ over stock. Stock is 300 on a regular N54 so the 1M should be able to hit 400hp/400tq+ with a tune + bolt on's.

The baseline of the N54T 1M engine on the more conservative Mustang Dyno is just shy of 300hp and about 344 ft/lb of torque.

In our initial testing we were able to achieve 323hp and 379 ft/lb all on stock hardware, down to the stock paper filter. That +23 hp and +35 ft/lb, a very decent increase over the BMW Performance Tuning. We plan to spend a few hours to finalize the stage 1 flash with a possible race fuel map in a couple of weeks.

As many of you may already know, the stock N54 air box is restrictive, and more so at elevated boost levels. Back in 2007 when we first dyno our N54 335i on a Superflow dyno, by simply taking the lid off of the stock air box net about 7 hp on a stock engine with stock tune. On an engine with elevated boost levels, more hp can be had.
