Large light spots on hood
I washed my car on Tuesday and these spots weren't there. After drying, I put the car cover on the car and did not drive it until Friday. On Friday, I did sit in the sun with the car running for about 20 minutes while waiting to meet someone. The hood had a three week old coating of Meguiars Gold Class wax. I've tried a fine polishing compound to remove the wax and then a fresh coat of wax with no results.
Kind of odd that they would show up almost instantly. Any ideas? |

That's really weird (and big) - could it have been some kind of transfer from the inside of the car cover? Is it the color of the inside of the cover?
Might want to try to clay those areas, see if that does anything. |

Good as new...
I washed the hood today using Dawn dish detergent to strip the wax, then used some isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual wax. Evidently the spots were where the wax had started to lift or something. I don't know if I had a couple damp spots still on the car when I applied the car cover or what caused the wax to do that? Anyway, a fresh coat of wax and back to normal.

Good to hear, i'd be horrified if i found my car suddenly had spots like that. Strange how it mightve happened. Was it sitting in the heat under the car cover?

Glad to hear it. I keep coming back to this thread to see if you figured it out. It would only make sense that it was just in the wax itself and not the pain, but it's still pretty strange. Glad it worked out.
