Car Will Not Start After Suspension Work
Off and on since Friday I've been working on my suspension. Finally finished this evening and went to take a ride but no start.
Pulled codes and I've got AA559 power supply has been switched off - closed circuit current cutoff relay. I searched online and found out one of the causes of this fault is the car being awakened too many times in a certain time interval. Jeezus - is my car not starting b/c it didn't get enough shut-eye? Anyone experienced this and know how to fix it?

Probably already found this, and I don't have enough coffee yet to digest the whole thing, but the following seems to have some info on that code-

Found that and some more TIS info-
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...lation/XBybvmN I did hear the car wake up quite a few times. I've got CA and had the key near me which was obviously a mistake. I put the car on CTEK a charger overnight and all looked good (green light is on). Start-up was completely normal! This is the craziest thing I've come across on the car. Hopefully others read this and learn a lesson! If I didn't have a code reader [more] panic would have set in.

I once washed my car with the keys in my pocket and as I circled the car I kept hearing strange noises and when I went to start it, it was dead. So now when I wash my car I pull the laser cut key out and leave the fob in the car and no more problems. Also when I had my car washed at work I came back to a low battery warning because I assume the car wash guy had the keys in his pocket. It sucks that this happens, I always have to tell him not to do that and I'm sure he thinks I'm being an asshole. |

I think this shutoff "feature" exists so if a module keeps the car from sleeping, instead of the battery being drained b/c the car can't sleep, it just shuts everything down.

I did it again. Replaced front pads and rotors and rear pads this morning. Since it was a short job I didn't worry about where the key was. Same symptoms, same codes. This is really annoying.

I should have learned from methodz experience (post #5 above) that this can happen easily. He was just washing the car.

Amen. Certainly would have skipped it if I had ordered the car. I'm sitting here now wondering how long my car needs to sleep before it will stop being finicky and start up!!

I haven't load tested it but checked voltage after a drive, after a long sit and all looks good.
Just need to remember that even washing the car with the key in pocket can cause this silliness.

I know but only have a multimeter. Any idea if the relatively cheap load testers are good?

You were spot on. Battery died today. When I got the car over 2 yrs ago when playing with the stereo and other accessories I got a battery discharge warning. Been using a CTEK since, but, I guess the time was up.

The strange stuff with a dying battery is not limited to just BMW, i.e., Chevy Colorados are known to have weird window, door lock, gauge issues that are immediately corrected with a new battery.

I guess all cars have gotten so complicated.
FYI - got a Everstart Maxx H8 at Wally World for around $123+ core. Even if they are not the best batteries, at that price and a 3 yr replacement wtty = good deal. It was actually less than the H7. I guess because not a very common size. It's huge but fit in the hole with no problems.
