1/8th mile first trip

Took my 2008 135I that I just bought used to the strip this tuesday to get some base line numbers and i'm pretty impressed. Ran a best of 8.74 at 81.7MPH with a 1.94 sixty foot. My car has 60k miles on it and no mods.

The 60' was not a bad time i dont think, but any one have any ideas or things they have tried that work well for launching these auto cars to get a better time?

On a stock car w/rft's that's a pretty darn good 60ft time, heck it's good with anything but slicks.

If you look at n54tech.com you can see people's track times and most people running low 12's have identical 60ft times so without mods that's about as fast as your gonna get. Maybe a tenth faster.

I don't have a dct trans, so I'm not sure if you have launch control or not. If so that's probably your best bet for consistent launch's.

Correct no launch control. I am going tonite to try my luck at the Budds Creek track in MD with my brother who will be testing his Jetta. I am constantly reading and researching and it seems you had a very very good 60 ft time.

I have a Dynolicious App for my Iphone which I have used on back streets here in Nothern Va to test my car. I just had not had the opportunity to go to a track yet and tonite I will find out with that ap was any good at all. It seems to be accurate, and i suggest it as a way to practice your launches, etc. I also change to softer tires in the rear for tonite. I will post my results later.

That equates out to a 13.5-13.6 1/4 mile time so that's real good for a stock '08 135i, especially with the 1.9 60'. People have issue's with launching this car because of it's IRS but with a pair of DRs I'm sure you could knock the '60 down to 1.8 probably even 1.7. Then you should drop your 1/8 mile time down by .2 for sure.

Did you lower the tire pressure any? But I'm sure you did since you said you have a lot of experience at the 1/4 strip.

Tires

I did not lower the pressure because I have never had run flats before and was not sure how they would react.

Push and hold traction button till it all shuts off.
Put car in DS.
I did one dry hop to clean off tires.
held break to rev car to 1400ish.
Mash gas and let it shift on its own.

It felt like it was holding each gear too long. I think Im going to change my trams fluid and filter soon. Any thing else I should try?

Pretty good times! I remember in my moms 2010 135i 6MT stock with about 8000km on the odometer I ran 13.54@103.5MPH here in Calgary Alberta on a 25 degree Celcius night a few years ago.

Well got the cold air on and loaded up the Cobb stage 1 and back to the track.

This thing is flying, now I can't wait to get down pipe and FMIC and move up to stage 2.

Thats good man. My best run at Budds Creek was a 12.9 and after that I got the injen DCI, autowerke axleback exhaust, and I have an appt this monday to instal downpipes. I really wanted to keep my Dinan Stage 2 until I can run it again before I go COBB or JB4 but I'm anxious to put more boost in, so I may end up boosting my tune earlier. Anyways, those 60 ft times continue to be great. I only managed a 2.0 consistently in my car with the mentioned 1/4 mile time.

Let us know what your car does with the mods once you run it.

Tires

My car has runflats but there Michelin 255 wide and I lowered pressure to 25 this trip. I really want to hit quarter mile the way the car is now.
