For 2012 BMW will be putting their efforts into the launch of the new 1 series plus the new 3 series. Production capacity is limited and I guess factories will be tooling up for new production. There won't be anymore than 450 in the UK and I think they will all be delivered this year.

From the autoblog article:
"After reading TDB's report, we pressed BMW for some more insight into the matter, and received confirmation that the current 1 Series M is only sticking around for the 2011 model year." |

"pulled" is kinda an incorrect way to put it. From everything I've read, it seems BMW had no intention of continuing into 2012.

BMW 1 Series M to be one year and done?
After only one year, it is confirmed that the BMW 1 Series M will end production. Looks like these could be quite the collector cars. http://ca.autoblog.com/2011/05/24/bm...year-and-done/ Quote:

My CA told me today they received formal notification that December will be the end of production.
Previous reports indicated a production run of 600 units for the U.S. market. The Matt Russell press video indicated 800 units. However, I recall seeing a figure of 60 units being produced per month for the U.S. market, which would correspond to about 420 cars for June thru December. So unless they ramp up production by 50% or greater, it seems they will struggle to simply meet the promised 600-800 units by year's end. I am starting to think that BMW may not supply at least one unit to each dealership, which would leave people like me (with long standing deposits at small volume dealers) out of luck. |

M-Series.com Update:The new BMW 1 Series M Coupe will be pulled out of production in December
May 26, 2011 Here is some bad news for the fans of the smallest and most affordable M model in BMW’s portfolio. According to Matt Russell, the M brand manager from America, the Germans will end the production of the current 1 Series M Coupe in December this year. Even we knew that the M model will benefit just from a limited production, this decision is quite shocking as we talk about the cheapest M-badged model from BMW but still able to deliver good performance, a recipe that should bring good sales, at least in theory. Until now, BMW Group issued no press release announcing that the production of the 1 Series M Coupe will end along with this year but there is no reason to think that the U.S. M manager lied us. Matt Russell also stated that the model will be manufactured in less than 1,000 units but declined to tell us how many units are left. Therefore, if you want to get one of the limited units, you would better hurry up as we can’t tell you exactly how many of them are already sold, an increased amount of orders being expected in the following months due to this early production interruption. As you probably know, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe features a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged unit able to produce 335 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, the power being sent to the wheels by a six-speed manual transmission. With these resources, the Bavarian model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 250 km/h. A month ago, the 1 Series M managed to beat the M3 E92 at the Hockenheim circuit by obtaining a lap time of 1:14.1 being 0.1 seconds faster than its bigger brother. While there are no official details explaining us why BMW wants to end the production so early, some rumors claiming that the 335-horsepower unit which fits the German model is the main cause emerged. To be more exact, the 3.0-liter V6 N54 unit suffered major modifications in order to be a good choice for the current 1 Series M Coupe, the new year bringing some tighter regulations in terms of pollution, something that will make the engine ineligible. BMW will quit manufacturing the N54 unit and therefore, the smallest M has to be pulled out of production.

That blows. Might be worth the extra coin with the dealer's upcharge now. Collectors car.

The entire allocation process should have been handled differently. They should have employed the same method used for the limited edition frozen gray M3. When the order bank opened in January, they should have allowed customers to phone in and directly place an order on a first come first serve basis. |

If BMW was truly concerned with the enthusiasts for this car they would have handed them out to those who knew about it and were committed to it in 2010. Instead, I'm waiting until the end of 2011 hoping they fulfill their promise to get one to each dealer, while some jerk-off who doesn't even know 1addicts exists will walk into a high volume dealership and get one just as if it was a standard 1 or 3 series allocation. |

I have been told by some people "in the know" within BMW that the N54 is only certified through the end of this year, so that would match with what is being said elsewhere with regard to the car only being produced through the end of 2011.

Which is why it's rumoured the next M3 will come with a FI N55.
