Poll: When does Sparkling Graphite look its best?
Since there have been a couple of SG threads popping up lately, I was curious as to see what others think of the conditions under which SG shines at its best. Non-SG owners, you can vote too.
I took this pic from quincy's thread but this is my favorite shade of Sparkling Graphite - it looks optimal here in IMO. If you selected other, please describe the conditions. |

It has a purpleish tint in this picture, probably due to the lighting.
In my opinion it is best when it looks dark, like you can almost cut through it...

I have high output florescents (cool white) in my garage. I like it best under that light. I've seen a good bit of a maroony undertone in the sun, which is cool too.

I like it best when flourescent lighting is around, for instance, at night at a gas station, but I've come to like most of the hues it shows. I've seen one in particular about an hour before sunset which combined some blues and silvers. Browns, while not my favorite colors at all on a car, ironically don't look at all bad when they show themselves on this car. It's almost like a deep, deep maroon with a hint of brown...or is it the other way around? Love the SG!

Is SG one colour ? Somehow I doubt it - I think BMW have ended up with a spread of different SG colours. The samples I viewed looked different to the actual cars themselves, which looked different across different cars in the same lot. So I think BMW are having problems with their paint consistency, which is going to be a big problem getting any resprays to match up.

Overcast. I like the grey better, but actually prefer Jet Black.

I had a new hood, rear bumper cover and respray on both drivers side doors, from redelivery problems during shipping, after ED. The paint match is fantastic. Granted, that's basically a factory match, but they did a good job.

SG is an interesting colour. kinda reminds me of a chameleon. it appears to change colour at different times of the day, indoors and outdoors. the fact that it is used as a brochure colour, seems also to make it the most popular colour world wide.

Mystic Blue is quite brilliant in the sun ... a sporty choice (until Le Mans crosses the pond). I agree SG is definitely more formal/business-like...I also think that barrique red is quite stunning and just as complex and characterful as SG and Arktis...these are the most exciting colors on offered on the e90
