Being a Platinum One frequent flyer has its priveldges... to counter the absolute dissadvantage of spending half my life on the plane being served bad food and crappy TV.

They let 3 of us a month have a go, which is only a small subset of the 2000 of us who want to get a ride.
You on AFF?
No..

Never seen the need or benefit in the frequent flyer chat rooms.

I just do the time, and talk to qantas direct when i want some help with something.

What am i missing out on?
Most useful posts are how to find a JASA fare. However if you are already a platinum one, you don't need more status.

I know they have meets at the lounges but I don't fly that often to have status. Flying tips with babies had been useful .

I am more active in the AMEX forum with how to maximize points.

You are not Robinson Crusoe on this one Steve.
I have no idea what the reference is about either...

Hmmm... Envy. Not one of my best features.

What has always struck me as dissappointing is how good jet fighters look on the outside (from a distance) and how industrial they look on the inside (up close).

Its like buying a new M5 and then finding out the interior has been stripped bare by a gang of Romanian gypsies, and in the hope you dont notice they replace the chairs with aluminium lawn furniture.

If racing drivers get custom fitted for body hugging carbon seats, why doesn't the military spend the extra 0.5% on the price of the plane and option in something that is comfortable and can hold the pilot in place while they hit 8g?

The F-16 is easily the prettiest modern fighter aircraft. From all angles and distances.

I'm sure being "pretty" was high up on the designer's brief for the F-16.

Perhaps:
1. Speed
2. Asthetics
3. Manoeuvrability
4. Weapons capability / payload
5. Radar reflection profile
6. Maximum g rating
7. Price
8. Number of cupholders
9. Warranty
10. After Sales Service
11. Range of after market performance options
12. Maintainability
13. Spare parts availability
14. Resale value

A380 cost more than the frigate even with inflation. Thought they were just talking sim but if he flew one he's leading...

Agreed. Had a poster of one of these on my wall when I was a teenager. Beautiful. Mind you, I still love the look of our recently departed flying pigs, F111s.

Sorry gents, but if "pretty" is the topic you cannot go past either the Spitfire or the P51D Mustang.
