changing 135i stock wheels to black?

Hi all,

Recently purchased a Silver 2008 135i. Absolutely love it. Cobb AccessPort on order

I am thinking of changing them to black - I assume that powder coating would be better than painting them? Or is powder coating them a bad idea as its easier to chip? What other options are there in changing them to black?

Cheers

Don't wash them - will be black in the month. Only BMW option thats free!

powder coat will last longer than paint but require to take off the tires while spray paint is cheap round to go.

Painting or powder coating wil cost the same for a professional job. Both will require the tyres to come off, and depending where you go, both should be just as hard wearing.

I had my wheels painted. 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of two pack enamel. The finish and quality is better than OEM.

Another option: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=660949

Pros: $40 total
Easy to go back to silver

Cons: Durability?

I'm thinking of trying this on my winter wheels. Nothing to lose and if nothing else it will cover some curb rash.

Thanks for the replies

The hardest thing is to arrange for it to be done, I don't have a spare set etc.

Probably going to go down the painting them route. I might ring around a few local panel beaters.
