I'm sure IEDEI will be happy as well that we spared you from an M235i, too. These lil buggers are truly special cars and the last of the true driver's cars. And man do they fly. |

We'll convince her eventually. We may have to pawn off some cubic zirconias as actual diamonds and hope she can't tell the difference, but we'll get her. O=)

Put my 313's back on last night, o man do I love these wheels. Transforms the look and ride of the car completely compared to the 17" winters i have had on. I am also going to be replacing my tires soon due to the auto-x and skid-pad schools from last fall, my tires are beat to hell and chunked up. The Bridgestone run flats are shot which is a blessing I guess, but now I am tasked with deciding which tires to go with. I know the majority of you switched to PSS in 225/40/18 - 255/35/18 which i am looking into but i am also looking at the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's in the same sizing. The price difference between the two is roughly $200-$240 which is considerable i guess seeing as i will be participating in roughly 8-10 auto-x and a track event or two this year as well as DD'ing 40-60 miles a day for work.
Those of you who went with the 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 size how do they perform? I know after reading many threads that the majority of people say they don't have any rubbing issues but am still a little weary, I'm also considering going with 225/40/18 and 245/35/18. The prices for the PSS in stock size and the larger tires are roughly a $70 difference whereas the Hankooks are actually cheaper in the larger sizes. I have considered getting a dedicated track tire & wheel combo but not sure that would be the best option. I would appreciate the feedback from those who have switched or any other suggestions on which route to go.

I can't speak too much on the other tires though I do have the PSS, which are phenomenal. I have a hankook ventus v12 on my full size spare though, which luckily I've never used. But have you looked at the Continental ExtremeContact DW tires? Not to be confused with the DWS (the all-season variety which suck). Those supposedly perform almost as well as the PSS and tended to rank a close second in most tests, as are the bridgestone pole position S-04 tires. However, some have complained that the pole positions are kinda loud and they're also kinda heavy. But those are the two other tires I would look at. The PSS may be worth the extra money depending on the price differences in various sizes, plus, all M cars get PSS, so I decided to just treat mine like a baby M car, so she got PSS. Nothing but the best. |

Sorry, non-is plebeian chiming in: I have got 225/245 combo on the 135i and it's better than stock in terms of driving, subtle but noticeable. I am running non-RFT Dunlop SP Maxx and let me tell you something... They're loud! PSS next time for sure.

The PSS seem to be that perfect blend of quiet and luxury, while still having all out best performance, for the street of course. In the end, I think they're worth the extra price of admission probably as tires aren't something to skimp on. |

I had Continental ExtremeContact DW tires on my last car (Mazda MX-5). Only had them 6 months or so before trading in on the 2013 135i, but during that time they were quiet, very good grip, and excellent in the rain.
The OEM runflats on the 135i must be a bit soft, since with only 12K miles (75% highway), I can see they're at least halfway gone. Not sure what I'll go with for the new tires: but probably either PSS or Cont. DW. How many miles should I expect out of the PSS set? That's more important to me than ultimate grip (I never auto-x or track my car). Thanks!

Most people only seem to be getting about 15k miles out of their stock runflats, at least for the rears, though I've heard others say 10-15k is pretty normal, and sad. The PSS are rated and warrantied for 30k, but then when you read the fine print, on a staggered set up, they then drop it to 15k. I've got about 11k miles on my PSS and actually have my tread depth readings from the other day - 8/32 for the fronts, 7/32 for the rears. I think the starting depth is 10/32 at new? Yet, CAVU went through his rears I think after 10k miles as he had excessive wear, though it's still unclear if he just got a bad set, drives like a madman, both, or if it may have been some kinda alignment issue, though all his alignment specs were where they should be. Bottom line is the PSS seem to last about twice as long as the stock runflats and are cheaper and offer better performance, though reduced turn in some might argue, as I know a few people actually prefer the turn in on the stiffer runflats vs PSS, like Chunner and others. |

I'm at 9200 miles on the stock runflats and I can't wait to get another 5k on them or so. Dying to put some PSS on there, but can't justify getting rid of usable tires. I've been putting even less miles on the car lately since I've been using my E34 more for daily driving.
Greg, you can tell your friend that I liked "casper" so much that I decided to SELL the wagon, and I'm driving the sedan almost full time now! I've got a set of Racing Dynamics RGP wheels about to head to the refinishing shop, and a brand new Remus exhaust just dying to go on the car. I guess thats where my "mod money" has been going lately, but don't worry, the 135is isn't forgotten. I'm still debating doing a springs/struts setup, or going whole hog and getting coilovers.

167XX miles here and my rear tires are still going strong but can't say the same about my front tires' outer shoulders. This is all with driving through mountains and uphill areas daily + 2 launch control launches + 2 full on DSC off, floored from 0-to whenever I feel the need to modulate. I drive mostly city too.

Yup and every stop sign too. I saw a video of a person in a GT-R doing a launch control at a red light and this senior citizen in his bike got in the way just when the GT-R driver let off the brake. It's mostly the GT-R driver's fault though.

I still haven't tried a launch control yet. =( I need to do that. One of my favorite videos ever though was this 50th anniversary of the 911 video where Road and Track did 50 launch controls in a row. I don't know why it's so funny, but it is. Also a testament to some amazing engineering that the car is capable of doing that with no ill effects, no overheating, etc., whereas most cars won't let you do it more than X number of times or I think ours requires 15 minutes to cool down or something.

Butts!
Just to keep our thread alive. Forgive us father, for we have sinned. It has been 11 days since our last 135is post.
Enjoy some butts, while not really all that flattering, they are still butts. |
