Maintenance and Extended Warranty
My 2008 warranty and maintenance will expire in March. My 135i was second to be delivered in the USA on day 1 of the 1.
The car has been great, so I'm looking to extended the maintenance plane and warranty. The quote I got from the dealer was: $2095 for two more years of maintenance $3140 to extend the warranty to 3/15/2015/70k $3490 to extend the warranty to 3/15/2015/100k I've never extended a warranty before, is there wiggle room in these prices? What have you guys paid? Is an offer of $5000 for maintenance and 100k warranty something that most dealers would accept? |

Good question as I am considering extending my warranty too but not sure if it is worth it unless something expensive goes wrong.
One thing to consider, I remember looking this up somewhere on these forums and if you're car's mileage is over ~40k (some number) that they will not sell the extended warranty due to the mileage. |

I think there is some wiggle room because I was quoted $2095 for the extended maintenance, but the F&I guy said he would do it for $1895.

Don't prepay for service, find a good indy shop. Warranty prices are definitely negotiable.

$5000 will buy a lot of maint and out of warranty repairs assuming you dont lose something major like a transmission.
If the car has been reliable it may be worth the risk to not buy the warranty. I would also ask them if the vehicle is worth any more at trade in if it is under warranty, meaning it may be eligible to be sold as a certified preowned car which is much easier to sell.

I can't see the point in buying the maintenance for $2k to get three oil changes. What else will they do?
We just paid $3150 for the 3/70 platinum for an '08 328xi. We were a little concerned about the cost of replacing expensive parts like a transfer case, automatic transmission, front axle, Navi, etc if it ever failed.

4 Pads & 4 Rotors $825. Not sure what the labor would be, but I would not be surprised at $400. So brakes, oil changes, and wiper blades would just about break even.
