Great looking car, Sk8fe. I also have a Slek hood on order with AeroCatch pins.
It might not be a big deal, but I believe your AeroCatch are upside down. The small side should be toward the nose. There was a thread discussing this a long time ago. If any educated person wants to chime in here, please do so because I honestly don't know if it makes any kind of a difference. I remember a quote from that old thread about the name "Aerocatch" as though they are "catching." What or why, I don't know. Wind to hold them down sounds ridiculous! They really lock into place securely. Images from 3D Design for reference:

I was also looking into TEIN hood dampers (back from my JDM days). They do make hood dampers, but not for our car specifically. Honestly, does anyone know how much this could possibly affect our cars? Get the right weight, install, right?
On the downside, (as with any product), there are negative reviews on TEIN.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFP1jWeFBkI
Your last set of pictures look like they have the stock hood dampers still on. Any warping? Any problems closing with the lighter weight and strong resistance?
Thanks for your time, photos, and advice.

I'm using E9x M3 hood dampers. Stock 135 hood dampers are too strong.

As far as AeroCatch latches go, mount them how you like. I mounted mine how I wanted them. You have to account for contour of the surface you are mounting them to and available space in the engine bay to mount the rods that the latches engage, which will dictate orientation. I have ran my 1 at various tracks at 150+ mph lap after lap all weekend long for several years now and I have had zero issues with mine, so...

Hey, thanks for the answers. A few more if you could help me out: Where did you get the E9x M3 hood dampers? Do you know what weight they support? Do you know what the stock e82 hood dampers support?

As for the Aerocatch, I can't imagine they make any difference as to how they're mounted. FWIW, I've heard of them being mounted completely perpendicular to the front of the car.

What track are you running at going over 150 MPH? I think I've gotten to about 110 at Willow Springs.

Did you notice any difference with your oil cooler? Daily driving, my oil temp is a peg below the mid-line. I noticed tracking it gets to about 3/4 on the oil temp. Considering the ER Sport Oil Cooler - just don't have deep enough pockets to do that yet.

I also want sport seats - I couldn't tell from your picture if they were fix-back or reclining. Any mounting issues? I think I'd heard you have to do something to not get a constant seat belt chime.

I got the E9x M3 hood dampers from my local BMW dealership parts counter. 90+% of all my BMW parts I get from them. I've purchased so much from them that the parts manager & I became good friends and he hooks me up. If you didn't want to go that route I'd be surprised if ECS didn't have them.

I believe the 135 stock hood weighs something like 47lbs and the E9x M3 hood is aluminum and weighs only 20-some pounds. So the dampers would be rated accordingly.

Watkins Glen, Summit Point (Main) and NJMP I get close to that (just shy).

I do not have any data yet on oil temps with the ER Comp twin oil coolers as they were installed with this latest round of mods, but I have high expectations that the twin high capacity coolers will greatly reduce my oil temps, because the I couldn't even finish a 30 minute track stint with the stock oil cooler due to high oil temps.

My track seats are Sparco Pro2000 seats with Sparco seat mounts for the 135. The seat with slider rails and mounts weigh ~15 pounds each. They are fixed back. Yes, they will have to be coded in (chime coded out). Check out NTX Coding, they can hook you up.

No updates in a while. Was insanely busy -- too much shit going on at work and personal life. Still have a nagging issue with the radiator fan not switching on even to the point of my 1 puking her coolant. Replaced the fan relay (had a thrown code for that), but still didn't resolve my issue. That is the last major "issue" in delaying me picking it up from the shop and driving it home. Ugh. Personally, I think it has do something with the JB4 not playing nice on a 135 that previously had the BMW Performance PPK v2 installed, but that is just IMO and I am no BMW tech so...

I am in the early talks with MOTIV for them to take my car, pull the motor, do a full Pro build with VAC head, re-install the motor and turn up the wick, dyno tune it and let's see if I can join the #800whp club.

There are some wiring changes that would have been made to make the ppk fan work they are listed in the installation instructions

My 1 is on her way to MOTIV for them to pull the motor and work their magic (full closed deck rebuild).

First 10 builds get a discount. I think I am #8 or #9. I don't know. Maybe #10? All I know is that MOTIV is hooking me up; however, that being said, it is still enough to melt several credit cards. #StruggleIsReal

Can't wait to see the dyno numbers; although, I know the setup could get more if I went E85, but need to leave something on the punch-list for the future.

Surprised you're not letting them tune for some E. What are you going to run pump 93? If so what's the expected power levels? 550-600? Awesome build man super clean looking.

Yeah, pretty much spot-on. I'm and Porsche and BMW Driver Education Instructor and help the clubs out with their road course track events. Tuning for 93 because E85 is still hard to find at gas stations near the tracks in my area. Hoping for sold reliable power in the 600 to 650 range. We'll see. Fingers crossed... Will post more engine build pictures as MOTIV sends me them and will post dyno graphs and hopefully some dyno pulls (video) if/when I can.
